Great pics. I haven't seen such amazing pics of a volcano before. Hope you stay safe and that is a bummer about the dog show cancellation and no refunds.

That was a very beautiful picture. I love the beauty of nature, bad or good.
Makes me wonder what's happening to our weather lately and is it the start of some serious things happening around the world. In southern CA. they are having a lot of trimmors too close to the San Andreas Fault line. Makes ya wonder!

Mike I'm so glad you're ok ! I saw that on the news and was thinking about you - how is it now ? how are you ??????....

again - I'm so sorry about little Jack but he sure had a good family with you all and couldn't have asked for a better life even with the snow and all the Mooses

Hope you and family are doing well - I have to catch up but you did cross my mind often lately - especially with your loss

OK, that's enough! If it takes Jack's death and a volcano to get you back here, I don't know if I can do it any more! Someone else had got to pony up with some personal trauma if we want to keep Villette around

Ha, all's well, V. The volcano is just a nuissance so far. A little extra dust in the air. It's no hurricane like you've been through, that's for sure.

I knew the cloud was coming so I took them all for a walk right beforehand. It fell for a couple hours, then stopped. Now it's just a matter of wiping their feet off and keeping them brushed when they go outside.

Thanks for posting that picture, Mike! I've been watching Mt. Redoubt on a live cam - but usually it is too cloudy or there is too much ash to actually see it.

Here's my absolute favorite picture from my trip to Alaska two summers ago. I know you know that is Mt. Redoubt in the summer - but for everyone else, this is what the volcano looks like when it is behaving!

I love that shot, and a terrific contrast to some of the pics I've been seeing lately! I'll bet it will have an entirely different appearance when it finally goes to sleep.

ps - it was 49 this morning in houston and I had full snow gear on

Villette, you're cracking me up. I'm starting to remember why people loved you so much around here all the time!

But first of all, those aren't my pictures. I, uh, borrowed them off the Alaska Volcano Observatory site. Unlike Palin and Russia, I can't even see the volcano from my house.

Wow! Those are cool pics. It's so amazing to see people still skiing in it!

My hubby was around during St Helens eruption, he said the ash got on his oxidized red car and when he wiped it off the paint shined like a brand spanking new paintjob!
