Someone Keyed The Side of My Car I ran some errands earlier and was putting some stuff away on the passenger side - and noticed someone had freshly "keyed" both the front and rear doors on my car :(. It happened today, at some point. Two super white lines - each about 10 inches long, on both doors. People can be so mean :(. What does it cost to fix something like that? Could I do it myself (which means, my hubby :p)? |
Some peoples really need to have their butt kicked . I don't understand why they are so mean . |
That is so mean. What is wrong with people. If it isn't too deep they can probably buff it and tough it up, I hope. |
OMG that's terrible. I had that done to my car many years ago and it was not cheap. Hopefully it's not that deep.:( |
That is terrible!!! Why are people so mean??!!! |
I am so sorry they did that to your car! I had some one key my new SUV in the target parking lot. They had keyed to whole passager side...:eek:from bumper to bumper. I couldn't believe it! It was covered by our car insurance. |
I know! It just makes me ILL bc it was obviously so intentional. And, anything body-work related can just be outrageous, even the smallest thing. Grrrrrrrrr. I just don't get people sometimes. What does someone get out of doing that, ya know? Dang that person. :( |
Depends on how deep they are. If they're not very deep your hubby should be able to fix them. What kind of car do you have? If it's a really nice one, a lot of times people do it because they're jealous, or sometimes, because they're just downright mean, or maybe just bored. But, it wasn't me that did it, I promise, I've been home all afternoon! |

It's a newer Nissan Xterra, nothing really to be nasty over (hey, good thing I wasn't driving the Bentley :p). Not sure how deep it is, I was so bummed - I could only quickly look and then allow myself a couple hours of denial. :) |
:(I am so sorry that happened, people are terrible:eek: But there is a thing called KARMA and it goes around, believe me on that. I don't have a clue what it would cost, but my husband had a deep scratch once and they wanted almost 800 bucks to fix it:( Again I am so sorry:( |
Well, I hope it's something the hubby can fix. The problem with car ins. is most likely it won't come near your deductible, and if it is over, they still want you to pay for it yourself so you don't run your ins. up. So my question is if, we have to pay for it ourselves, why even have car ins? I know my son was in a fender bender a few years back, it did $1200 damage to the car in front of him. Anyway, we called State Farm, she said, if you have the money in a savings acct. take it out and pay for it to keep the ins. from going up. So, that's what we did. :( |
aw I'm really sorry. :( What a jerk. People can be so mean. I know that it usually happens to nice cars because people are jealous. As if that's a reason to destroy someone's personal property. Could you have accidently cut someone off or something? If so, they could've waited till you parked somewhere then done it. People are really stupid. |

But, if that's the case, my hubby should have key marks all over the company van;) |
I remember a commercial on tv advertising a product you can use to cover scratches but I cant remember the name of it |

Dont you just hate people sometimes!! |
What gets me is you get a new car, you go to walmart or kmart or any other high end store, and park all the way out at the end of the parking lot, where you have to walk 20 min to get in the store, and of couse, no one else parks there because it's too far away, you come out and there is the old 1976 ford maverick with dents all over in it, parked so close to you, you have to go to the other side of the car to get in so you don't add another dent to your car trying to open the car door like they did when they were trying to get out of their car. :( |

I feel for you. I've been there too. If not to deep you can use touch up paint. If you have to get repaint from the body shop, they charge out by part ( each door, front, side panels) as they can pain like 1/2 door. unfortunately the price go up fast. my neighbor's just spend $600 to repaint the back door of their SUV. Hope it won't cost you to much. Sorry for you |
If you know the color, and I mean Nighthawk Black Pearl instead of Black, there is this really good touch up paint that you could use. It has the base paint and the clear cover that goes over it. It's inexpensive too!! It comes in a pen, so it's really easy to use. My big brother ordered it for me when some A**HOLE from my apt building scratched a big "7" on my hood when I parked in front of the building. (When my car was brand new). It's really good and I'll look for the website for you. |

OMG that happened to me tooo . . I was so enraged and so was my hubby . . . I don't know why people can be so mean . . . as much hubby wants to get it done, it is way to expensive because the entire side panel of the door need to be completely painted . . . I just it when stuff like that happens and you have no control over it. |

LOL you are like my hubby and me, we always park far or on the end of a lot so there is only one side to worry about . . . . no matter how you try to take care of your car, someone is out there to mess it up for you  |
The only thing with new paint jobs is that, I\'ve been told, it becomes more peel-happy after a while. But I\'d be worried leaving a keyed part to rust. :( There are a lot of SUV haters, treehuggers. I hear them all the time while walking through the city and come upon their hate posts in car forums. I\'m one of those who love them, except for the gas guzzling part. :p |
i am so sorry Anne. Some people are just plain mean. I hope it is not gonna be too costly to fix it. |
Aww that is horrible. Jealousy is what is boils down to most times. There is a way compound that you can buy that gives a general color. A lot of used car dealerships use it and you baisically just buff it into the spot and it fills the color. That is a decent temp fix. If you lived locally our friend could fix it for you..that is what he does for a living. I would suggest getting it done when you get the spare cash. It\'s definitely not something you can do. You could also go to the dealership and they will get the paint match for you and you can touch up the scratch like that. It won\'t be perfect but it will totally match and it is a decent fix. |
That\'s terrible!.....It\'s hard to imagine the mentality of a person who can deliberately do something like this and then just go about their day feeling good about it, as gave them some sort of satisfaction.....just sick...... I hope you can get it repaired without having to report it to the insurance company...... |
OMG Ann, WTH?!! I would have flipped. So sorry!:( Fingers crossed that the touch up paint does the trick. |
