| Has anyone had a Lumbar Laminectomy? I have to go in April 3 for a lumbar laminectomy for ruptured disc & spinal stenosis...just wondering if anyone has had it done, if it helped, how long did it take to recoop, AND DID IT HURT??? lol Thanks!

| I'm so sorry you are going to have to go through that. My husband has had three back surgeries with that being the first one. Compared to the other two it wasn't so awfully bad but I won't lie to you. There will be pain. One thing I suggest you do is make the doctor write you a prescription for the pain killers you will need BEFORE the surgery. Don't settle for a non-narcotic. You may need it. Also make sure you have someone there with you after you come home. You won't be as fragile as you feel so be sure to start walking around as soon as the doctor tells you to. That will keep everything healing well. You will probably be fit as a fiddle withing six weeks and glad you went through with it. The relief you get will be well worth it.
