| Has anyone been to Cancun?? My mom and I are leaving for Cancun on Thursday and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for excursions, restaurants, shopping, ect. We're staying at the Hyatt Regency and the only thing we have planned so far are 4 certification dives. (scuba diving) Also, I haven't been online much lately... I've been really busy with school! So HELLO to everyone!!! Thanks for any help. -Rachael |

| Oh goodness! Be very careful, they were saying on the news the other day to stay away from there this year since the crimes are so high... shootings and stuff.

| I've never been to Cancun, only Ixtapa where I swam with the dolphins, which was one of the best things I've ever done! I hope you have a wonderful time though and it's great to hear from you!!

| Wish I were there right now... instead of in this foot of snow still falling!

| I have been to Cancun, 4 years ago. It was awesome at the time, we stayed an a very nice resort and didn't have to leave for anything if we didn't want to. As the other posters have warned be careful. Ask at your hotel for safe areas to visit.

| We went to Cancun in October and we booked a tour through the Apple Vacations Rep right at our hotel to Chichen Itza and Ikil. Chichen Itza is the Mayan Ruins and was recently named on of the new seven wonders of the world. They take you on a guided tour and then give you time to explore on your own. There are also lots of local vendors if you want to do some shopping. After that they take you to Ikil which is a beautiful sink hole that you can go swimming in. They serve you lunch and if you go you must try the pork on the buffet is awesome. It cost us $100 per person but it was very much worth it. Have fun on your trip. I also have pictures on my myspace if you want to check it out. Krystal | MySpace.com

| The warnings for tourism to Mexico is in regards to areas near the US/Mexican boarder....Cancun is nowhere NEAR the boarder. I went a few years ago and it was WONDERFUL. We stayed in a resort just outside of Cancun, which was nice because it was a short Taxi trip to all the main attractions, but far enough out that we weren't in the middle of the spring break atmosphere. I would suggest visiting "the market". It's basically a street market type place but you can get some really cool stuff. There is a little cantina in the middle of it with some of the best food and drinks. |

I just got back and have to say that I didn't hear of anything while I was down there. We go every year to Mexico, just stay away from drugs and that scene, and be smart. | |
