Wow, that is a lot of soda. Glad your mom is having a positive effect. Your dd's headaches will go away soon enough & she will feel so much better overall. I remember a few yrs ago, a chiropractic friend told me about a woman who drank two 2-liters everyday and how many health issues she had - including they thought she had epstein barr syndrome because she had so many functioning issues - he got her off the soda and onto a healthier diet & lifestyle and all her symptoms went away.

I thought I would have some withdrawals. Not one bit. I do drink a lot of tea (no sugar please) - so I still get some caffeine. But I have been concerned about everything in diet soda. And the possibility that drinking diet soda makes you eat more.

So last weekend, I was too lazy/busy online to go to the store, and the beginning of week was really stressful (normally when I would have craved a diet coke) - but what happened was over the weekend, I had no urge to snack - hardly ate at all, then at the beginning of the week I finally put 2 & 2 together -- and I do think for the most part my appetite has decreased due to not drinking the DC.

Then I found this online tonight Can Diet Soda Make You Gain Weight? - iVillage - Beehive -- there are some really interesting links at the bottom of that story

Good for you, I did the cross addiction thing. I gave up soda and started drinking coffee. Not good.

Well, I still drink tea - a mixture of different tea leaves. I am not giving this up, so I am still getting some caffeine. Tea has a lot of different benefits. And some good things about coffee have also recently come out. I don't think either tea or coffee is as bad for us as the artificial sweeteners, etc. in diet soda

I really need to give up Diet soda. I'm not addicted to it or anything, I just like the way it tastes. I've never been able to stomach regular soda...I've felt like I was drinking sugary water or something. I've heard about how horrible diet is for your health though, so I really need to get on that. I'm hoping that, even though it's the only kind I've had, the fact that I'm young will spare me the health problems in the future if I give it up now.

The only thing I can't live without is a dr. pepper now and then - I drink the regular and it's once in a blue moon, so I don't think it's too bad.

ok, tonight I was think a diet coke would taste good - primarily because I was really thirsty & had been somewhere I didn't have water available. Good thing there is none in my house, I might have blown the streak.

I'm doing good - think it was hormones

the other day. But tonight I was somewhere & people were drinking alcohol or soda -- so I had to make the choice of water

I don't know if it was mentioned in any posts above but I have never really drank much soda until I tried Coke Zero. I'm so addicted that whenever I go a day or even half a day with out one, I get a headache from caffiene withdrawals. Is Coke Zero really that bad for you? I think I already know the answer to that but I don't want to give it up !!

If its got aspartame in it, its BAD.

If you really must drink a soda, mix it with water or seltzer water. Then you won't drink as much. Or what i like to do sometimes cause i love fizzy drinks is mix half seltzer and half cranberry juice or all natural juice. There are also fizzy drinks out there that just have natural fruit sugar and no extra added, those are better than coke!

Well, I'm not drinking any soda - it's completely gone from my food/drink intake/diet. And I'm not one for fizzy drinks. I don't even like flavored water.

The other good thing I decided about giving up soda (Day 14!! - woo-hoo!!) is that I think I will save a lot of money. It's just not the money & bottle deposit I paid on the Coke - but often I would go to the store primarily because I was out of Coke, but then end up buying other things, that I didn't need at all or right then.

Matter of fact - I'm on a kick right now to see how long I can go without going to the store - have to have milk & cereal, but other than that, I have so much in my pantry and fridge. Even trying to avoid eating out.

Well, I'm right there with you! I'm doing Weight Watchers (started Tuesday) and sodas are quite a few points and I hate diet soda.

I've been drinking Crystal Light in water because I hate water too. I haven't really had any withdrawals or headaches. I drink tea whenever we go out to eat. I would give anything for a coke though... mmm. My last soda was a Sunkist on Monday.

Oh, you can do it! If you need motivation just keep coming back here! My favorite way to have water is with a big squeeze of fresh lemon - maybe you can try that, to get more water in. Also, when the weather is cold, I'll heat my water up like I'm going to drink a cup of tea - well not really hot, but I learned a long time ago when it's cold outside, I have a hard time drinking a lot of cold water.
