no i'm really not trying to start anything at all, promise!! and you are right, don't touch it, it's only one person's opinion about something extremely controversial, not something to get all upset about and start a drama fest...i shouldn't have stated that opinion anyways, i should have refrained and not said that to begin with, i'm sorry didn't aim to offend...but please don't take it as me trying to stir the pot, because i was only giving an honest opinion and you know that those are like butts everyone has one and they all stink...so never mind me or my thoughts and just know that while i don't support the gay lifestyle, i do not hate or disrespect those who choose that lifestyle. some of you here may not agree with my choice of beliefs either and that is just fine, i'm a Christian, that is where the disagreeance with homosexuality comes from, if you leave me to my beliefs i am more than happy to leave you to yours.

In this paragraph, you are stating that you are tolerant. However, what you write above only reveals intolerance, actually. If you can't see that, then I'm not sure if you understand what tolerance really looks like.

While I think we all need to agree do disagree with your statements, I want you to know that Ellen is not on the show to promote being " gay" she is there to speak for the people and have an outside point of view. In my opinion it will be great to have a new and different perspective on AI. If you just can watch the show and forget what her sexual preference is , you may enjoy her.. Ellen is very smart and also whitty, she will ad some great humor and perhaps soften some of Simons sarcasim... On another note, I dont think this thread or your opinons about people sexual preference is relevant at all!!

I like Ellen I think she will be a great addition.

you're right, this was about American Idol, sorry for the thread hijacking, back to topic, and i have watched Ellen on her show before and actually do find her very entertaining and she seems like a very nice lady. she may make the show more interesting so i will give it a chance!

I know we aren't to discuss religion on these threads, and I know we can't argue about what Jesus taught, but I have to go on record as saying that I strongly object to your using your Christian belief, as an excuse to be prejudice. There are many Christians, who don't support your intolerance. I don't want to cause a fight, and I know that there are parts of the country where people believe as you do, but I would hate for anyone to think that these views represent Christianity. :confused: I just felt I had to speak up, and you are free to believe whatever you wish, again I'm not trying to change your mind, I just want people to understand that your sentiments don't represent what all Christians think, only a very vocal minority.

along with what you have stated about what Jesus taught, He taught us to love everyone as we love ourselves. I agree that we must love all people no matter what, but also in the Bible it does talk about homosexuality as a sin. I cannot and will not deny that i believe it is a sin and a personal choice to be made. I do not treat people who make this lifestyle choice any differently than i would treat a lier, thief, adulterer, or any other person caught up in a sinful thing. i am a sinner as we all are and am saved by the grace of God. a gay person is living in sin, whether others believe what the Bible teaches about it or not, but that doesn't mean a gay person is a bad person or should be treated any different, you don't treat a person with an alcohol addiction or someone who has a problem with gluttony badly so don't treat a gay person badly either. but in saying that, it doesn't require me to agree that their lifestyle choice is okay or not a sinful thing. and with that the same as they are sinning i have done so myself in other ways and am forgiven for those things the same as any person doing any sin in their life can be forgiven for. That is Christianity to the score, forgiveness for your sins and a way to Heaven through the price paid by Jesus Christ on the cross in his blood shed and death so that we might be forgiven and saved from our sins and have a way into Heaven.

That is all i shall state about it, i don't want to be talking about things we're not supposed to either, but i did have to clarify the Christian faith as i know and understand it.

I think Elleen is funny and she can make us laugh and the show will be great :) I think also this thread doesn't talk about her life style, so let's talk about the show and let her live with the way she chooses with all respect to her as a human being. :) Peace.

To be honest, I'm totally looking forward to seeing Ellen on AI this coming season. I've seen her on talk shows and find her to be quite witty. I believe she will be an asset to the judging panel.

I am interested to see how it goes. To be honest I have thought many times what it might be like to be able to sit in as a judge with Simon, Paula and Randy. Not that my opinion would carry any weight, just be heard. I wouldn't be to good at it since alot of times agree with Simon. But sometimes I think the "average Joe" might have a better idea of what the public wants than those on the inside chasing the dollar.

I was very excited when I heard Ellen was going to be a judge! I really enjoy watching her. I think she is funny, caring and loves people, all kinds of people and I think it will be a great addition to the show!!
