Gas prices going up As if Katrina didn't do enough damage, now they're predicting that many people will be paying $3 or more a gallon for gas (if they aren't already.) Matt Lauer said that premium gas in Brooklyn was, I think, $3.79 this morning. Are you kidding me?! I'm filling up today before it goes up anymore. It seems like everything that happens raises gas prices these days. |

I filled up my hubby's truck last night and it had went up about 8 - 10 cents since Sunday. It was $2.59 at half a tank it was $35.00 to finish filling it up. It's horrible. I had also hear that Bush is thinking about going into the reserves if so I hope this helps. |
The gas in South Jersey went up about 10 cents I think... :( |
Not only gas for our cars will be sky high, but also gas for our homes is going to have a 30% increase. They say this is going to be the worst winter we've experienced regarding heating our homes. I'm praying for a warm winter, but living in ND I don't suppose that won't be likely! |
Last night gas here was 2.659. This morning it was 2.899. I live just a few short miles from the Missouri state line and there's a gas station just across the state line, so I usually get gas there. Last night it was 2.499 on the Missouri side. |
Last night, my hubby and I stopped to get gas in my car--fearing prices will soar by ends week. It was 2.69 /gallon. Ray was going to go back out last night to fill up his car, but decided to wait. Went this morning, same station, same octane--it was 2.89. And its supposed to go up again. Yes- this winter- out heating bills are projuscted to go up at least 25%. This is unreal. We are not going to be able to do anything. All our extra money will be going towards paying higher heating bills!!!!!!! Insane! |
:thumbdown Uuuggghhhhh! Don't get me started on gas prices!!! |
It's so true. Thay use everything as an excuse to raise gas prices! Argh! :thumbdown |
These prices are killing me!!!! I will be doing the best I can just to get by....i just moved into a new house with a friend and i am scared to see what our utilities are going to cost me :O....I am a broke college student and living in a college town I haven't been able to find a job...that will work with my hours so I drive home to work on the weekends....AHHHH!!!!! |
Gas yesterday was $2.56 and it raised to $2.89 this morning!! Glad I filled up yesterday. |
Patrick took my car to fill it up early last evening and the station was packed with lines waiting to pay 3.09!! He went to another station and it was cheaper so he got in line ... before he got to the pump they shut the pumps down and turned off the lights ... they were raising their prices!! He went to yet another station and had to pay 3.09!! And that was for 89 octane! You cannot buy 93 octane here and that's what we are accustomed to using in the South. I don't understand why natural gas prices should go up ... nothing has slowed down these wells' production here in Colorado and they are drilling new ones all the time!! |
Yesterday, the price for Premium (91 octane) in Beverly Hills was an astounding $3.51! Hurricane Katrina destroyed a number of the refineries that are located in the south east part of the US. So while Bush may decide to tap into our nation's emergency reserves for oil...that will do us no real good. Our true problem is the lack of production facilities, not the amount of oil available. One wall street analyst said that instead of stocking up on oil, we should've stocked up on gasoline. |
Gas prices are seriously gettin ridiculous! |
If you want to hear about ridiculous My husband has a courier business. It costs him $300 or more each week for gas right now. |
Went to Walmart Went and got 25 gallons and 4 five gallon cans yesterday , the gas was 2.55 a gallon, today gas has gone up 24 cents per gallon. I filled all 4 new five gallon cans yesterday plus the 1 we use for mower. Dangggggggggg ....justus |
today it was $2.59 but suppose to be over $3 tomorrow. :thumbdown I'm glad that I got that job transfer...start on Tuesday that way I can just walk to work! ;) |

Man, I was pist because I had to pay $2.69 a gallon today! I cant imagine paying $3.79. It already cost me $55 to fill up my truck today. I am only 24 and I can sound like an oldtimer becuase I can actually say "I remember when gas was just 88 cents a gallon". Yes! it was 88 cents 8 years ago when I started driving! |
Anyone remember the 70's? Quote:

I was told by a guy that works at a gastation here in Kingsort Tennessee that by the end of the day Regular will be 3.00.. THat is horrible! |
Just an update... today I went past a gas station on my way to work and it was $2.99. Thankfully, I filled up last week and my "commute" is only 1.5 miles. My mom heats her house with oil and is beside herself thinking about how she's going to afford to heat it this year at this rate. Sue- I understand that oil rigs were damaged and that will raise gas prices, but 30 cents over night?! Isn't that only 25% of our oil source? They keep saying that it's a shortage of oil refinaries that is making the price so high. Now it's the destruction of oil rigs. What I don't understand is, what else has to happen for our brilliant leaders to understand that something has to be done with developing an alternate fuel source?! Lately, it seems like everything is increasing except for my paycheck. :( |
I filled up my tank on Monday at 2.79 and then it went up Tuesday to 2.99 and this morning I needed 1/2 tank so I filled up when I was at the pump they were putting up the new prices of 3.19. 40 cents in less than 48 hours that is just plain WRONG! I can\'t imagen how some folks can budget for this! To bad the man who can do something about it is an oil man getting richer as we pay out the teeth! I normally don\'t make such comments but that is how I feel these days and needed to say that! Sorry in advance if I offended anyone but sometimes the truth hurts! |
Just went to the gas station.. 3.09.9!! |
Gasoline here is $2.39 for regular unleaded. It hasn\'t risen in the past few days but I do expect it to. I\'ll check when I go back into town to pick up my children from school. Thank goodness I prepaid for my winter heating gas! Otherwise, it would cost me bunches more!! |
yup, i don\'t know how much overall, considering i don\'t drive, but i heard my dad saying that it went up 13 cents since yesterday!!! |

In some places it is not to late to do this- but I would prepay ASAP! |
Well I can promise that we have not seen the last of fuel costing us the big bucks, this will just be the beginning. I have seen how it has snowballed right to what we pay for food, my grocery bill has almost doubled. My water and lights have increase to compensate for the high fuel charges. Sue- I understand that oil rigs were damaged and that will raise gas prices, but 30 cents over night?! It is a matter of demand- we all will dig into our pockets and pay the price. This is definately wrong for them to take advantage. Isn\'t that only 25% of our oil source? Yes this is true but what we get from others still has to be refined. They can buy crude fuel for $14.00 a barrel but it takes longer to fefine that fuel. They keep saying that it\'s a shortage of oil refinaries that is making the price so high. I think I heard there was only 13 working refinaries in the US now. When we had 26 six before. Now you have to multiply that by how many vehicles that are on the road and how much as a country we consume, not to mention no one whats refinaries in their communities for building new ones. Now it\'s the destruction of oil rigs. This is going to be a big set back for us here in the states. Understand I don\'t like this anymore than the rest. I am not defending the what are government is doing to solve the situation. I wish I had all the answers. I just know that it will be much worse before it will ever get better... :( And in the parts of the country that was hit with this devastating storm most of us can\'t even get gas !!!! To put in our cars or even in generators to at least battle the heat of running a fan. I understand everyones frustration, as I two am questioning what are government is doing to help the fuel problem and pricing.... By the time there is federal, state and then local taxing on gas-- remove all these taxes to help the consumers. I have to agree with when does our paychecks start reflecting the cost of living..... |
It was $0.99 per litre here yesterday and this morning it was $1.19! |
Luckily I filled my car up this morning for $2.66 when I just got back from picking up my son at school. He starts on the bus Tuesday thank goodness. Now it is $2.89. I\'m so glad I filled up earlier today. I filled my husbands truck up Monday evening. I got it for $2.49 then it is absurd .40 in two days. Something has to be done. But because of the damage in the gulf where the oil comes through and produced I read today that of course they have damage and they don\'t know how long it will be before they get it repaired hopefully it will be one of the first things that gets repaired. In Atlanta they are saying that we could have a shortgage due to this. We are fine now but maybe in a few days. Lets just hope this gets resolved before too long. We won\'t be going anywhere this weekend. My husband wanted to go out on the boat. Not Likely. |
