This is going to be a very long recovery period. It will be years before anything returns to a similance of normalcy. This will be a total collapse of society -- jobs, banking, industry, etc. Poverty will increase, people will succomb to despair. This is going to have a major affect on society. Lisa |

I am glad you are ok.. I can't imagine what you are going through right now.. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers daily!! |
I'm happy to hear your home is safe and sound. We do need to keep all those affected by the hurricane in our thoughts and hope the area can recover and bounce back in time. |
Lisa...Thinking of you - I know how bad it is and just want to say how thankful I am that you and your family are ok...It's so sad. |
At my sister's house today, there has been nothing else on TV than storm coverage. It is truly sad. There is not a single regular program on TV. This will only compound the emotional distress people will feel. The wounds will go very deep on this! Lisa |

I'm so sorry that you and everyone in LA is having to go through this. My first cousin's husband is from New Orleans. I think they live outside the city somewhere I don't remember exactly. Anyway my cousin and her family moved to Columbia, SC from Jacksonville, FL a few months back and her in-laws just happened to have planned a visit for this past weekend so they are with them. I just got off the phone with her and her brother-in-laws house is completely underwater. But, her in-laws ust had a tree to fall I think they have a very big house so, I'm sure the whole family will be staying together while things get straighten out. I just feel so sorry for everyone there. I hope that you and your family don't have too hard of a time. Everyone that has been affected will be in my thoughts and prayers. |
The New Orleans Mayor, Ray Nagin, has finally commented on the number of dead that is expected . . . "minimum a few hundred, more likely a few thousand". |

That is absolutely horrible. I'm sure there were a lot of people that did not evacuate for one reason or the other. It's still gut wrenching. I'm just glad that you were able to evacuate. |
Good read http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/m....asp?p=1098677 My stepson sent this to me. He works at LSU as a computer analyst for the vet school. He told me they were asked permission to use their freezers for bodies. |
Lisa, Im glad that you and family are safe and that your home suffered no major damage. I also feel so bad for all of the people that has lost their lives and homes during this disaster. I have all the victims of Hurricane Katrina in my prayers. Wow, Is terrible that so many are dead. |

I am so glad to hear that you were able to stay safe throughout the storm!!! |
We're still with no electricity and the stories are getting worse and worse! The boys are panting non-stop and were so excited to go ride in the car to my sister's house. They are loving the a/c while we're here for a few minutes. Curfew is at 8 PM so I have to be back home before then. Electricity is being restored here and there but not for us yet. Our turn will come. Lisa |

smile on my face yesterday and hope it will yours. The picture was of a mother, father, tennage girl and younger girl about six. The back- ground was their home that was completely demolished and they had come back to see if they could salvage anything. The father had a wheel barrow with some things and he led the way with such a determined look on his face, the older daughter followed looking pretty much the same. Directly behind them was the mother holding the little girl's hand. I looked down and the little girl was holding a leash with a little yorkie at the end. It's face was full of mud and it's little legs were mud all the way up and the little guy was soaking wet BUT it was pulling on that lead ans just as determined as the rest of them. They may be small but I'll tell you they are tough little rascals. The picture was taken in Biloxi by Patrick Schineider/Knight Ridder/Tribune. So precious, I could do nothing but smile at the spirit the five of them were showing. So happy you are safe and hope the electric is on soon. |
