Hey Carters Mom How are you guys doing? Are you now in a safe place? Hope all is well and you are all comfortable! Please stay safe and if you need anything, just say so. |
Yes, I was thinking about you guys today and wondering how everything is going. |
Carter's mom Carter's mom had been suspended from our forum, among others...she posted on another forum that they were evacuating asap. |
What for? She just posted about a half an hour ago didn't she? |
 I would have bet a large amount of money she just posted. |
post Maybe it was another Carters mom...I thought she said she was suspended..sorry. |
Not a problem. I thought I missed something again. I always miss all the good stuff though. |
She was suspended but was reinstated. She did post letting all of you guys know that she was okay and did evacuate. Thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. By the way I am Carter's Sister -- Lisa's daughter. She does have internet at the hotel as of now. It was down when they got there so I dont know how much she will be online. Thanks again! :) |
Why was she suspended. I always miss everything too. Sorry I am out of the loop. |
I am not sure what happend but I think it was by mistake because the same day she was okay. Here is a link to the other thread where she posted. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15994 |
Pat: It did say I was suspended on my name the other day in all the fallout but it must have been an error because I was unsuspended without intervention and just a few minutes after the initial occurrence. I'm in Ruston, Louisiana which is midway between Monroe and Shreveport on Interstate 20 at the northernmost edge of Louisiana's border with Arkansas. I'm about 250 miles northwest of home (Lafourche Parish - Thibodaux) and am out of harms way. We expect about 30 mph winds here with a 50% chance of rain but the rain will probably be from the trough of low pressure that will be guiding the path of the hurricane. We have reservations here until Wednesday and then will go to Lafayette for a week if we can't return home for whatever reason (tree down on the house, ripped off roof, flood damage, no electricity, etc.). Thank goodness for laptops and Internet!!!! I'd be bored out of my mind!!! Carter and Cooper miss home but are adjusting to our home away from home at the wonderful Choice Inn! lol :) Thanks for all the concern!!! Lisa |
Stay safe..my heart goes out to all those who will lose so much..glad you are safe. |
Soo glad you are safe. Give Carter and Cooper kisses from Cosmo and I. We wish you the best. Keep us updated if you can from time to time. |

Its looking like it may not be as bad as it could be. The track has finally turned north and the eye will cross a tad farther to the east than was expected which is good news for most of south Louisiana. I believe my sister either lost electricity or dsl just a moment ago since her AIM logged out. Lisa |
Haven't been able to contact our neighbors that stayed for the hurricane. As soon as we can get a damage assessment, we'll decide when we'll leave for home. We've been told there are widespread power outages and lots of roofs needing repair. No sense in leaving where we are to get stuck in massive traffic jams where people are trying to return too early. Roads have to be cleared first and live wires cut. Lisa |
Stay safe! I hope you have minimal damage and able to return home soon. |
i'm glad you're doing ok. i'm still thinking of you! |
I've read reports of downed trees and impassable streets in my hometown of Houma. No reports from Thibodaux yet. Both cities are under curfew since 8 PM last night. No one is allowed to be out and about because there were mandatory evacuations. The 9th Ward in New Orleans is devastated. There will be catastrophic damage in places. Lisa |
LISA ! I'm glad to see your name - Glad you're ok - what a scary thing to be going thru for you and all the people of N.O. it's looking better than expected but there is still the devestation of the wind and rain to deal with - and power outages - man ...what a TERRIBLE storm ! |
I'm also glad your safe and sound. Its such a scary thing to go through. Thanks for all the updates. |
Lisa- I have been watching the news, and I haven't heard much yet regarding your parish. I will be keeping the news on though. But at the Superdome where there are thousands of people, the roof is slowly being torn apart. So many people there...I am praying for them. But there are reports that Souther LA are faring much better than anticipated. But flooding is what they are still concerned about. I hope you can get in contact with your sister soon. Please stay safe! Hope everyone os ok!!!! |
My sister's house didn't sustain damage. Their neighbors have shingles missing on their roof. One of the shutters on my sister's house came undone during the storm and her husband refastened it to be sure nothing crashed through their window. I talked to someone not far from my house and all she could say is that there are trees down and no electricity. They decided to leave their house last night so still have no damage assessment on our home itself. Lisa |
You all have our prayers for a safe return home. |
Thanks! The Governor requested that no one begin returning. It is definitely way too early to consider going back. With so many people that evacuated over 3 or 4 days, it will be a madhouse trying to get back home. We'll take our time and travel backroads as much as we can as long as they are passable. Lisa |
Lisa, Im glad that you are safe. I will have you and family in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted. |
Lisa, So far, and I have to add so far, it sounds as though your home may be safe. I hope so. :) Crossing fingers... |
One of Courtney's friends returned home this afternoon. In the eyes of a 15 year old, we don't have any damage but I'm sure she wasn't looking at the roof. She said our fence gate won't close but if that is all we have, we're lucky. She stated there were two larger branches down in the front yard and twigs. She will call us as soon as the electricity is restored. My sister lives in Houma and her electricity was restored about 7:00 PM tonight. We can only hope our electricity won't be long. Lisa |
