So far...so good! :D Gosh! The damage I've been seeing on the news is horrible! The flooding is so widespread. :( |
Glad to hear you are safe. Please keep us updated. |
Can you imagine the water being to your rooftop and waiting to be rescued from that rooftop? There were 200 people (20 were cops) waiting to be rescued that way. There were also bodies floating in the water. This is just like Hurricane Betsy. People just didn't heed the warnings. What will it take for them to wake up? Had New Orleans have had the direct hit that was predicted, there would have been thousands dead - including some in the Superdome. That structure should have never been used for evacuations. I'm feeling really fortunate right now!!! Lisa |
Wow, Lisa, that is really scarey! I can't imagine holding on to my roof waiting for help. I am very gald you all are safe! |
thought about you all day and hope that you are well. |
Lisa--- How are you doing this morning???????? Hopefully everything is still OK. Please let us know? |
hey lisa, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. please be safe. and pls keep us posted . :) |
Lisa, I'm praying for you. |
Here's to hoping you're home safe and sound (just without electricity to let us know). Hope all was okay when you got home. I know you will let us know when you're able, but in the meantime lots of YT hugs and prayers going to you and yours. |
Hey guys! I posted on the Carter & Cooper thread pretty thoroughly but wanted to let you know here too that we are okay and our home sustained no damage. We're without electricity, phone, cell phone, cable services. Water and sewerage are working. Because of no electricity, stores are not open, and no gas is available. We are very, very lucky. We have our home. Pray for those in the Crescent City and Mississippi. I'm posting from my sister's house in my hometown. They have all services available. I'll be going back home later today. Lisa |
Its so good to hear you guys are ok. I have been watching the news and it looks like so much is demolished by this hurricane. I am glad to hear you are ok. Keep us posted please and will be thinking of you. :) :D Verena :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |

about the people in the Super Dome and how they will get them out (hardly slept last night) Also is there a way to get the water out of New Orleans??? The same thing that kept it out, is keeping it in. Last night on Dateline the Gov. said they might try to pump it out but didn't know yet if it was possible. My neighbor said that this morning they were still debating how to do it. ????????? |
The first order of business is to close up the breaks in the levees (3 total - 2 on the 17th St Canal and one near the 9th Ward). Until those are fixed, pumping cannot do anything but to recycle the water from the lake and river back into the city. They are beginning to clear people out the Superdome and sending them to the Astrodome. There is some fear that the flooding will spread to other areas on the west bank. Pray that doesn't happen. The army is coming in and there are 4 boats coming with supplies. Its really, really awful! The Governor has been on every national show possible in order to bring Louisiana and Mississippi to the forefront in everyone's minds right now. The state is in dire need of assistance. The state just doesn't have the resources to do everything on its own. Lisa |

SuperDome are getting out. I know all my friends and neighbors here in Ohio have given to the Salvation Army or Red Cross already. Just let's not let a week or two go by and forget these people and what they are going through AND WHAT THEY WILL BE GOING THROUGH !! I'm sure we will continue our prayers for all of you also! |
I'm so glad to hear you are ok!! |
