These are all good...my mother and I were having a conversation about my daughter just yesterday. Of course, mom is right. I need to get my daughter involved in sports...she's 13 now.

My mother stated, "A tired mind and tired body will keep a teenager out of trouble." I believe there is wisdom in those words. It's the bored teenagers that will find trouble...I need to get my daughter busy before it gets to that.

i agree with you, it is a really good idea. the only thing i would recommend is that you need to really make sure that it's something that she is interested in.

i remember my mother forcing me to get involved with things that i had no interest in, it was really torturous for me, yea, i didn't have time to get in trouble, but i also hated my life, and resented her for forcing me to do something i didn't enjoy...

I have to add another that I was thinking of last night. My Dad would start these interesting conversations at the dinner table (I think to try to make us use our brains) Anyway one night my brother answered with " I know it's right Dad, I read it in the paper" and of course Dad said "Never believe everthing you read" and that is so true. He also said ALWAYS look at a situation from both person's point of view to make a decision and I try to always do that...............except when I already made up my mind Sorry Dad.

it reminds me of when i was in grad school, i had a teacher who refused to give me my 'A' on my papers! i thought my papers were flawless, but of course the teacher didn't think so!
so i pulled aside a student who got A on his paper, and asked him how to do it. he showed me his paper, and explain to me how i can improve my arguments. what happened was i would not address any ideas that would counter the point i was trying to argue in my paper, i thought if i even brought them up, it would weaken my argument. the 'A paper student' told me that by not bring up the opposing points, it didn't mean those points did not exist. and that the best thing to do is to acknowledge those points, and then point out why they are not valid points.
then my grade finally improved once i started doing that.

You will get a kick out of this one. My brother was late getting home from school and when he came in my Dad said "Why are you Late" and he said I had to stay after for talking" and "I wasn't talking" So Dad says "chack it up for all the times the teacher missed catching you when you were."

You can see i had some good lines to use on my kids.
