It's so great to know you can post a quick question or concern and get tons of support! I sure love you guys!! I am getting ready to leave for the dr. I will update as soon as I get back! |
Don't be nervous! I've had glasses since about 3rd grade and right after my junior year of high school started, I got contacts and have had them ever since. I think they're the greatest thing ever! It does get annoying at times when something gets in your eye though, but I like them so much better than glasses. It takes a bit to get used to them when you're first using them, but the results are worth it. Good luck! You'll be fine! |
K guys, I guess I'm in the secret eye club now ;) I have astigmatism (sp??) and was told that I shouldn't be driving w/o corrective lenses (oops) but they taught me how to use contacts and I have them in now.. my eyes feel kind of dry and funny, and the computer isn't as clear as I thought it would be, neither is the TV so maybe it takes a while? Or the prescription isn't perfect? Well see, I have to go back in two weeks so we'll go from there. I HATED the wind thingy- hopefully I won't have to do that for a long time! |
Welcome to the club!:D I have an astigmatism too. It may take you a little bit to get used to wearing the contacts but before long they shouldn't bother you at all. I wanted to mention early but forgot earlier..you might want to consider getting a pair of glasses, cheap frames or whatever, so you have something to wear on days you just don't feel like putting your contacts in...like late at night or if your sick, etc... |
OH- I hate that wind thing too! :D Yes it kinda takes about a day or two for the your eyes to adjust to the blurryness. I go through that every year when they change my presciption. As for the dryness just blink or use your drops. Congrats & Welcome to the club! |
Oh Amanda, no need to worry . it is a piece of cake . . just be happy you are only now needing one . . .I've had to wear contacts/glasses since my college days yuk! |

Get the Nerve!! Hubby couldnt see anything and was having problems with eye infections from his contacts. He had the lasik surgery and walked of the office being able to see. The next day he could see 20/15 in each eye. His eyes didnt hurt just felt very dry. The best part is that it has gotten so affordable. We only paid a little over 4,000 wich if you add up glasses and contacts for 10 years your coming out better off. I have contacts cause my eyes are to dry but I cant have the surgery so I am stuck with glasses. I can still see without my glasses just not as good as with them so Its not that bad. |
A piece a cake, you have no worries, take it from someone thats been going through just about everything with eye tests. A year and a half ago i developed Macular Degeneration in my left eye, so i had to get shots to my eye, but the damage was done and cant be helped as it is directly in my line of vision. Coupe of mo. ago it went to my good right eye, but hope we caught it early enough, Doc said we got a good chance with that one...god i pray so...as now i cant read unless big letters, talking about scary...but let me tell you , i was scared to death when i had yo go in for my first shot as it sounds awfull...but you know , it does not hurt as awfull as it soundsm it just burns a wee bit for a couple of days,,,i be going gladly just go in for tests. Wishing you good luck with the tests ! |
I have been wear my glasses just switched back to my contacts yesterday. I remember when I first tried contacts which was like a little over a year. I had to drive to my dad's house which is like 2 hours away to get them. It took me like 45 minutes to put them in my eyes the first time... So I am driving home and was thinking these are not clear at all. I started to feel a little sick and got a headache. Anyway...I get home and tried to take them out. My BF comes in and sees me poking at my eye trying to get the darn things out and it turns out one of them fell out along the way home. (I never found it...:confused:) So I had to drive back and I made sure to get an extra pair. I am eventually going to get the corrective surgery but I want to wait and make sure to wait until they are done changing which the doctor said around 25. |

Well I'm glad you got them checked and can see now :) |
Well, here's an update after wearing them for a few days- I don't think I like them. I know I need to talk to the Dr. about this but first of all they make my close up stuff all blurry, second of all my eyes KILL me but about 3pm and third of all I just don't like them! I am going to ask the dr. if they are the correct prescription. At this time I am kind of going towards a pair of glasses and sunglasses, just to wear when driving or watching television, movies, etc. I am not sure....... I really like the idea of just taking them off when I want to. But, I know there are a lot of contact lense options out there that may work for me. We'll see... I am going to call their office later today and see what they think. |
