| I Hate Computers!!!!! Need Help My stupid computer/lap top wont let me access my website builder. And I thought maybe thier site was down but my husband can access it at work as we speak. This is REALLY BAD. I cant see any of my orders or update anything on my website. I am not having any problems with any of my other links/internet pages. I have cleaned out my cookies, ran virus scans, spydoctor, anything I can think of. Anyone got ideas???? I am sort of desperate.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Adaware and Spybot are the 2 that helped me fix my dads computer AVG Virus is a good free program also - maybe clear out programs you dont use ? also...a system restore may have to be run if you can't get your site to work properly - when I had problems - that always fixed them |

| If you have IE 6 it's under the Tools Menu > Options and the first tab General in the section Temporary Internet Files > Click on Delete Cookies Button. Also wouldn't hurt to click on the Delete Files (the temp internet files).

Did you run the ad aware programs? I also use spydoctor. Once I run those and fix the problems that it finds my computer always runs much faster. You can also delete cookies by going to your toolbar at the top and click on "tools". There should be something that says "internet options" ans this is where you can clean out your cookies. I only do that when I cant open something. SOmetimes on ebay It wont let me open picture manager so I will clean out my cookies and then it will work. A lot of the time when you clean out your cookies it also erases your internet history.

| Here is a good free spy ware program that I use http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Another good one is Skybot http://www.adwarecops.com/skybot/skybot.html I also use Norton. I would run my anti virus & a spyware program & then.... Have you ever defragged your computer? Quite a few people have never done this to their computer & everyone should do this once a month. It keeps your PC running fast as well. This is for an IBM pc & not a MAC. Don't own a MAC so can't give those directions. Go to START--PROGRAMS--ACCESSORIES--SYSTEM TOOLS--DISK CLEAN-UP This removes your history, temporary internet files, stuff deleted that is sitting in your trash bin, etc. When you do this it also wipes out every place you visit all the time & you start all over again. (If you don't want to show people where you have been - this covers up some of your tracks ) Then you want to do DEFRAG - basically same as above START--PROGRAMS--ACCESSORIES--SYSTEM TOOLS--DISK DEFRAGMENTER Do the defrag right before you go to bed & leave your computer on all night - it will probably take all night to do this task if you have never defragged your PC. An explanation of defrag - think of your hard drive like the tape on an audio tape & everytime you are on your PC it is being recorded on the tape. Now if you delete something, it leaves a blank space on the tape. The next time you do anything on your pc it does not fill the hole first but goes to the end of the tape where you left off. Maybe where you deleted something you want to add something - like to a term paper. Your PC will have to go back & forth through the tape to piece it together. Defragging would get rid of the empty holes & where you have pieces here & there of the same term paper (example) it puts them all together. So by piecing it together & getting rid of all the empty holes your computer will run faster. If this sounds confusing, trust me, just defrag & your pc will run faster. All those spy programs that attach to your computer are wicked & really slow PC down. First get the spyware & run that. Then I'd want to get rid of everything it found on my PC permanently. My hubby didn't run the spyware on his PC & eventually it just froze up. Mind you he had Windows ME. I ended up wiping out the hard drive & installing Windows XP & gave him a lecture about not running the spyware program. He runs it all the time now. Sorry so long, hope it helps.

My laptop did that right before it crashed from spyware. The problem with things like spyware and adware scans is that people who write the code for the actual virus know how to write it in a way that it won't be detectable by scans, and those are the ones that crash your computer. The only way you can get it off is to wipe your hard drive to the operating system and start over. I had to buy a whole new computer! Sorry if I'm being a doomsayer, but it's just my experience. That's happened to me before. Try doing things like turning off your firewall or pop-up blocker and see if that helps at all....
