| That is sad about your daughter, but with all due respect, I do not believe for one second that what this mother did was an uncontrollable thing. I mean, I believe that ANYONE that commits an act such as this is mentally ill to a certain extent. You would have to be. I do not believe that is an excuse though. If she is mentally ill enough to kill a child, she needs to be locked up. Someone with that bad of a mental illness that can kill a child and not have any recollection would still be terrified that she may have done it and at least tell someone that she does not remember and would have a fear in her that she may have done it, she would not lie to cover stuff up, do internet searches that prove that she had intent and planned it, and gone out and partied all the time afterwards. I think mental illness is used as an excuse for too many things. I had post partum depression to the point where it was almost post partum psychosis. I will admit to that now, but at the time I would not, I never believed in it. I had it during the end of my pregnancy for my 5th child, through her first year at least. So I am not downplaying it, I just think that a lot of people (for example my brother who is "add and bipolar") use it as a crutch and an excuse to not be a productive human. I do not believe this is the case with Casey Anthony, and even if she was bipolar, it will never ever excuse what she has done nor should it ever be excused for anyone who brutally plan to and follows through with the murder of a child. Someone with a severe metal illness is more likely to lash out in a heat of passion attack than a strategically planned murder of their own child. I think she was either a) jealous that her daughter got more attention than she did from her parents and others because she seems to be an extremely narcissistic, self centered individual, or b) her daughter held her back from having freedom to do whatever she wanted. Or a combination of both. Whatever the case, she was obviously mentally ill to kill her own child. But that will never ever excuse it, nor should it be a consideration in her trial. I am still curious what this "half of the story" is that we don't know supposedly that the defense says there is.

| Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I don't think that for one minute I doubted that she had passed when that story broke. I am glad that the baby will be able to rest in peace now that she has been found. She can receive a burial fit for a little angel. I am a mother of three children and have been through a lot of things with them as most mothers have. No matter how frustrated I have been I have never ever thought to hurt my children. What I can't understand is why she wouldn't give the baby to someone to care for her that would. Why be such a selfish cow and keep her only to resent and eventually hurt her. As for her parents if they knew anything I pray that they are haunted for the rest of their lives. Quite frankly I can't understand any covering up for her. If my child did something like that to my grandchild you best to believe I would be the first one calling the cops. Children are one of the biggest blessings we can receive in this lifetime...ask any person that can't have a child. They are so innocent of all and to think a person can hurt them like that...she is just a monster. Just a selfish monster. I remember reading when she found out she was pregnant a good friend of hers that couldn't have children begged her to let her and her husband have the baby to raise. They even offered to "pay her expenses"...were willing to give her whatever life savings they had. She chose not to decided to keep that baby. I hope to god that baby's face haunts her for the rest of her life. Sorry but if it were me I would be pushing for the death penalty in her case. I don't think she is ill I think she is just damn evil.

| My little Shadow Donating YT Member | The thing that I can't understand is "how" Caycee could change so drastically during this horrible time! According to her Mother, growing up she was a great student, one who always "mothered" her friends.....looked out for others, etc. She then became pregant. According to the news, she did not tell anyone who the father was. She then met a very nice young man who was willing to become the babie's father & they became engaged. It was after this that she seems to change drastically. She called off the engagement. There are videos that show Caylee & Caycee together lovingly & happy in the first few years of this little angel's life. Personally, I don't think the Grandparents have anything to do with the harm of their granddaughter. They just can't believe their daughter would do anything so evil. Monday night, I believe on Fox?, the ex boyfriend will tell his side of the story. He has also said that the Caycee now is not the Caycee he knew then. Just perplexing, but so so Sad!

| I agree with you mindierose, it's not an excuse, she did do this horific thing. She needs to pay the price and get help for her mental issues. You and I have things in commen that alot of people would not or could not understand. I don't take things personally, my motto has always been, "this is my life, if you can't deal with it, I don't have time for you because I need to help my daughter have a life when I'm no longer here." She has to realize what she did, dosn't she? I had to kill a snake once, scared me so bad, then I cried cause I did it. I haven't seen the grandmother through this whole thing cry or act in a way that is normal to me either. I think she knows more than she's letting on too. |

| This whole situation is very sad. Not that it excuses the action but I feel many people who commit these type of crimes have issues of some sort. Whether it's abuse, schizophrenia, bipolar or many of the other mental illnesses it's very difficult to get any help for the people who suffer from it. Society has made it almost impossible to get help as I've found out first hand. Sometimes when we try to protect the rights of people, we are in fact making it impossible to help the ones we love. May Caylee rest in peace and fly with the angels....

| They had the officer on the news here a few days ago. When the meter reader called in August, the officer checked the area and was scared off by a snake and never went back. The officer was very upset and crying, saying he felt guilty because he has children.
