Always wanted one, never got one....don't you all feel so sorry for me.haha!! Ok what about the Sea Monkeys?? Those little critters were so cool in the comercial, they had little mermaid and merman outfits and looked like they had kids and were a happy little village of people. | I once got one of the Chia's that grows "hair"! I do not have a green thumb! I followed the instructions to the letter ... that blasted thing never had a hair on it's head!!! ![]() I found a website called "What On Earth", that has some of the funniest, most unusual things. I found a "stocking" stuffer for our 5 yr. old granddaughter that she is going to love!! Abbi loves bugs & crawly creatures! She really has to be supervised to keep her from touching creepy crawlers that she shouldn't touch .... she is afraid of nothing. Anywho ... I found a "Worm Farm" just like an ant farm. She can watch the tunneling, etc. and I don't think it will be the problem that the ant farm would be!!

| So I thought I'd educate us on the Chia Pet...comes to find out the guy that invent it also invented the Clapper. hahahahahahaha INTERNET INFO: ON CHIA PETS Figurines in the shape of animals have been made for centuries as art objects. These figurines have typically been made of clay, stone or wood. Animal figurines have also been designed which have live herbs that simulate the fur or hair of the particular animal. Exemplary of such is those sold by Joseph Enterprises, Inc. of San Francisco, Calif. under the trademark Chia Pet. These figurines have hollow, clay bodies in the general form of the animal represented. A large torso portion of the clay body has many small grooves in which moistened chia seeds (Salvia Columbariae) are positioned. The moistened chia seeds produce a thick, gel-like paste which binds the seeds to the clay surface.* Smart Clapper® image used courtesy Joseph Enterprises, Inc.Chia Pet® is the registered trademark belonging to Joseph Enterprises, Inc., the manufacturers and originators of the Chia Pet. The name was first used on September 8, 1977. The Chia Pet is not a patented invention. Other companies can freely make and sell novelty items similar to the Chia Pet, but the name of Chia Pet® belongs to Joseph Enterprises, Inc. The first Chia Pet® was the ram, marketed and distributed in 1982. Who needs a dog or cat when you can own a Chia Pet®? Available in popular Bunny, Frog, Hippo, Kitten, Pig, Puppy, Turtle, as well as the new Chia Head®. Joseph Enterprises, Inc. also holds the patent for the Smart Clapper® whose slogan is "Clap On! Clap Off!" US Pat #5493618: Method and apparatus for activating switches in response to different acoustic signals, invented by Carlile R. | HAHA! Thanks for the info! I always wondered where the name "chia" came from. Now I know it's the name of the seed. It's true that you learn something new everyday. Glad you liked the "cheetos pet," we couldn't stop laughing at work! Glad it was off hours and we had no patients and the doctors weren't around... It still makes me chuckle!!
