| I had off work today but didn't go shopping anywhere. I did hear on the news about the guy that got trampled to death at a WalMart. That is so...sad.

| I refuse to do anything but grocery shop on Black Friday, and that is what I did. I actually went shopping the day BEFORE Thanksgiving. The stores were quiet and there were some great deals. I picked Gracie and Holly up some really cute matching T-shirts at Target for $2.50 each ("Don't blame me, it was an accident" and "Naughty or Nice"), and picked up lots of small gifts for friends. I do believe that shopping the day BEFORE turkey day might be my new tradition.

YT 2000 Club Member | Not really to crazy when people actually rather pay with cash then credit, you can't do that online! My husband doesn't feel comfortable using the credit cards or bank cards online, so it's not an option for me, but gee it would be so much less stressful then to worry if a mad mob is going to erupt!

| I go shopping EVERY Black Friday. It is sad to hear about the violence and fighting that goes on.....There is no need to get so overwhelmed over an item at a store that you have to hurt someone or fight.... it just ain't worth it...... As for me it is a fun adventure. Getting up early and meeting my friends. Standing in line is a time for meeting new people, drinking hot coffee, and admiring the winter attire of others in line. Then......... there is the GAME PLAN. Who needs what from the store...and splitting the shopping list according to what dept....get what is on the list, no browsing ... ... get in and get out. Avoid the LONG checkout lines if possible. For example.... we arrived at JC Pennys at 3:45 am - stood in line behind about 30 people. At 4 AM, the doors opened. My friend went to the womens dept for slippers for her Mom and a coat for my daughter, I proceeded to go up the escalator to housewares for a set of silverware. We both met at the door after paying for our purchases and quickly walked out to the car....... Yes we WALKED. Once I started the car, I looked at my watch..... it was 4:13 AM. Yahoo..... one done in record time..... then we went to Walmart... their deals started at 5 AM...... then to Target at 6 AM. The best part is having breakfast at a restaurant with my friends and giggling about our morning..... usually about 8 AM.... and then home for a quick nap before actually starting the day! We got some great purchases, cameras at Walmart, hoodies & coats (to donate to the local coat collection box), Disney DVD's, mittens and scarves, small hand tools, pillows, socks, etc. I always try to get the deals on the toys.... My grandchildren all have a "list", but it is hard to pass up a pretty Barbie at a bargain price..... so they go to the Toys for Tots program. Shopping on Black Friday is Great...... I try to go with a respect for others and an appreciation for the store employees. It can be really stressful on them, too!
