There's an oxymoron for you: eating in moderation. At least it is around my house! LOL |
I understand all my stuff is sugar free. I sneak some sugar now and then, but if I get to much boy do I get sick! I do eat in moderation, a little now a little later, etc, etc. LOL |
I'm very bummed right now. :(:(:(:( I posted earlier that I have an A in math. I was *so* excited, all, I can't even tell you. Well, I got an 80 on this stupid pop quiz. that dropped me down to a 90.2. barely hanging on. I figured...that's OK, I'll get a 100 on my notebook check and get a 90 on this test tomorrow, and I'll be fine. WELL. I got a 100 on my notebook. However, the stupid test! The last 3 problems were "Proofs" and I just don't understand them at all. I did *ok* on the rest of the test - probably would've gotten an 85, which would've been fine. But the stupid Proofs questions....they were worth double the points. So basically, I lost my A - an A that I've worked my BUTT off for all marking period - thanks to three lousy questions on some STUPID test. The test wasn't graded yet, but I just know for sure - there's no way that I got even an 85 on it. I know that a B is still good. Heck, I've not had a B in math since 5th grade. But I wanted that A so bad. :( I worked SO hard for it. I didnt miss one single homework all marking period...I studied like crazy for all of my tests...never got below an 80-85. I got maybe one 75 on a quiz once. But that's it. All of that work. My grades might be better than they used to be (I've been failing math since 7th grade), but math itself isn't any easier for me. This just feels so useless and stupid! I've been working so hard all year. I had to stop myself from crying when I gave my teacher the test. The marking period ends on Tuesday. There's no way I can get it back up to an A by then. We don't have any more tests or anything...and my teacher doesn't do extra credit. I had an 88.7 3 weeks ago and I got it up to an A in 3 weeks, cause I wanted that A so bad. and what do I get? a stupid B. Thanks to 3 dumb questions on some useless test. I'm so dissapointed. :( |
Aww... I'm sorry Megan. :( You'll do better next time! :) |
Megan, I've been out of school for way too many years...I didn't remember how it felt to have to take tests. A year ago, I started a new job in a hospital...after working for 22 years, the doctor I worked for retired...now they are throwing tests at us all the time. I hate it, yet it's part of working there, it's required. So far, I've manged to pass them all and I don't think we actually get graded. But come I'm 52 years old, enough with the test already and just let me do my job. Might I add these tests are mainly on hospital policies and such...not the work I actually do every day. But if I failed one...I'd be very upset. Hope you pulled off a decent grade...I know you deserved it. |
Maybe try telling your teacher this and see if she can let you do some extra credit or something. When I did my student teaching, I noticed that some of the students were better at expressing themselves in ways that weren't traditional. I, of course, would do my best to help them understand the concepts, but ocassionally I would let them do an extra credit assignment for a few extra points. It really gave them the self confidence they needed. I even had a student who used the key terms and wrote a poem with them. He never forgot them after that. :D |

Ugh. Okay, so YT has stopped sending me e-mails when one of you guys replies to this thread, so now I have to go back and redo the e-mail thingy. *sigh* anywho. Since I've been gone for forever and a day, someone wanna give me the cliffnotes version of what's been going on? |
Megan, chill sweetie. It's a class, you have a B, and you have another nine weeks to bring your grade back up to an A. I don't like proofs either. They're the bane of my existence. Really, they are. On the positive side, you prolly won't see them again until the chapter quiz or the cumulative test, so it's all good. And really, if you stop and think about it, when you're working out a problem, just write down the steps. I divided here, I subtracted here, and then go back and add theorem or postulate to the end of everything. lol. It works most of the time. =) Good luck! |
*sigh* I know...but I wanted an A. haha. It's been 6 years since I had an A in math and I was sooooo close. and we start off with a C at the beginning of every marking period...so I'll have to work up to it again. Gross. =/ Our dumb midterms are this week, but proofs should only be like 3 of the questions on those...so I suppose I'll live. ANYWAY. You've been missed! I was wondering where you dissapeared off to! Welcome back! Thanks all. I'm pretty much over it. *sigh* My teacher definitely doesn't do extra credit, so there's no use in even asking her. But whatever. Oh well. |
