Thank you.. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to post about a pekingese.. I figured parvo would be the same in all dogs.

Yes the lady last night said that her legs don't seem to cause her any pain, and that she could get a wheelchair, but we should wait till she's fully grown to fit her for one cause they are kindof expensive. I have decided to keep her, I'm going to take out the care credit plan (I didn't know existed till last night) in case theres another emergency. We are taking her Friday to have her spayed and her legs x-rayed to see if they can be fixed.. and how much they think it will cost.. the lady at the emergency clinic estimated about 2,000.00... so I don't know.. but I am going to try. My aunt said she would help me pay for it. But theres a chance that it wont fix them.

It's very very hard to read about a dog being put down just over lack of money - they deserve better than that if it's a fixable problem ...

krystenah....I REALLY hope you went to the vet and I wish you lots of luck with this puppy and your yorkies - Many times a situation feels out of our control - but with some serious thinking and caring vets - it can be resolved or treated so there is no suffering for the dog.....euthanasia should be the last resort when the dog is suffering and there is no other option...this dog sounds like there are options left and if it gets too much for you - try to find a good NO KILL rescue

no.. my aunt wasn't putting her to sleep, she took her from a breeder that was going to have her put to sleep and brought her to my house... which was suppose to just be for that night.. I was going to have her put to sleep if her legs were painful and it costed 2000.00 cuz I can't find anyone to take a dog whos back legs dont work. I asked shelters.. they all said they were full. But.. the nurse last night said that it doesn't seem to cause her any pain so its not a problem.

She used to work at a vets office.....for FREE, to get experience as she studied to be a vets assistant, and every time someone would bring in a pet to have put down for no good reason, KRYSTENAH would volunteer to take in the cat or dog and try to find it a home.

Krystenah is a newlywed, like me, and it's not like her money grows on trees. IF WE ALL HELPED AS MANY ANIMALS AS SHE SAW SUFFERING, WE'D ALL GO BROKE!

Don't judge her because you have NO idea what a big heart she has. She didn't have to help this poor dog AT ALL....but she's doing the best she can.

Krystenah, my hubby would NEVER let me take in as many animals as yours does. *sigh* You deserve an award, hehe! And Brad too!

Thank you for your kind words about me! I do try.. and it broke my heart to see this dog dragging its legs like it did.. that is why I took it.. cause I figured noone else would want a dog that couldn't walk. But.. my husband told me I could keep her.. but he doesn't want anything to do with her, and wont pay for her. He doesn't like that I take in all of these animals either cause it makes us go broke lol.. but I can't help it.. I feel so bad for them! Don't feel bad about your hubby not letting you have an animal.. it was VERY hard for me to get my first cat when we moved in together.. and with each animal I get.... its an even harder battle with him lol.. but I tell him.. "this is who I am.. and if you don't love that about me.. you can't love me" I know after a while he will fall in love with this puppy too. People can say whatever they want.. they don't know me or the situation.. I'm 21 years old, a newlywed with currently no job.. just spent a LOT of money going to school, used a lot of my time going to school to be a vet assistant.. volunteered for 3 months at an animal hospital.. saved a cat they were going to have to put to sleep for no reason, found homes for 2 of their dogs that they had that needed homes. I have 2 yorkies, 2 cats, (now a pekingese), 2 snakes, a gecko, a crab, and a bunch of mice.. 7 stray outside cats that the neighbors threw out.. (and everyone of the animals are spayed and neutered.. I even took the stray cats to have them spayed and neutered) but when its a weekend and the clinics are closed.. the emergency clinics charge a lot to see you, and you are flat broke.. and an emergency pops up out of nowhere.. what can you do? I don't know why im trying to justify myself to everyone.. but i'm not a bad person.. and I will post the receipt in a minute just so everyone can get their "rest" at night knowing that i took her to the vet.

Ive been reading this post and i truley belave that u have been giving it your all.. And i no how it is it be straped for cash but u just want to help the poor puppy even if u dont have the money Its better to try then just to let someone put it asleep so good for you.. When u find out the costs of everything i would like to donate i dont have much but sometimes 20 dollors helps like a vet check up or something...

Shanatink 08-21-2005 09:20 PM

I just want to say I think its great that you are trying to help animals. Is really sad how much vet bills cost and that they only want to get paid first. I remember when my min pin broke his leg and he was in so much pain and his bone was actually sticking out in the opposite direction and the vet wouldnt touch him until I paid(and the frontdesk person was so slow dealing with the payment crap and I was just using a debit card- nothing too comlicated) and I kept thinking come oN!!! This dog is almost in shock, fix him! Because this happened on a Sunday this was the emrgency vet, not my regular vet(he is much nicer).
But anyways I am so glad you saved that dog from being put to sleep for her leg problems. I hope she gets better. You truly are a great person and we should strive to be more like you :) .

Thank you very much.. that is very nice of you.. I am taking her Friday to have a checkup, spayed, and some x-rays.. but we are going to try to charge it to my aunts care credit. Then I find out how much the surgery will cost to have her legs fixed. If you would like to donate for that.. I would really appreciate it.. cause I know that its going to be so EXPENSIVE! And theres a chance it might not even help her. The albon helped her.. her poop is solid now.. still soft, but atleast its solid. I really freaked out when I thought it was parvo.. but I was flat broke.. so I was going to try wait till Monday (my vet lets me charge).. but Im glad that we got it taken care of and found out that it wasn't parvo.. it was a HUGE load off my chest. I was stressing out so bad. But.. I really appreciate your kind and sympathetic words.. to everyone who has been nice and understanding on this post. Because of you.. I may still post here when I have future problems. But God bless you for your kindness countrygirl.. and everyone else who has posted kind words to me.

You guys were getting a little scary there for a minute. Please be mindful of other people's feelings. You want people to come to this site for information and help. After reading some of those posts I would be scared! Be helpful not hurtful.

Glad to hear the puppy doesn't have parvo. Maybe you can get a veterinary college to cut you a deal if you tell her story. Good luck and I know you will do what it takes to help this furbaby.

vainchick5 08-21-2005 09:34 PM

Krystenah, your new baby is sooo super cute. I'm really happy that you got that baby the care it needs. I am no stranger to being broke but having to go to the vet or even the DR. for me. I really admire what you do, and wish I could do the same but I couldn't. I wish more people like you existed to help these helpless animals.

i agree with u chanin this is a site for help and advice not to be mean to each other. I really like this site it has helped me alot im a little scared to ask for advice on here now dont want to say anything wrong.

orinskye 08-21-2005 10:06 PM

she is adorable and i dont usually like dogs that look like they ran face first into a brick wall (joke.........lol) ........
i just checked into this thread to see what the fuss was about (rarely do we get 5 PAGES on PARVO) and i am appalled! Kristenah i am soooooooo sorry you had to deal with all those "not so nice" posts, you have a very big heart :) People here are passionate about their pets (and animals in general) and there have been a few people to join our forum and tell stories about sick/injured animals and parents/ect... not wanting to pay vet bills , which turned out to be false. We really do care about our members here and it sometimes gets a little "heated" when the welfare of animals are at stake, i think that people should have had the sense to "bite their tongues" (lol, i like whoever said this) but just know that there was previous occurances that sort of made your post similar to "troll posts".
On the one point of emergency vets not asking that much money in "upscale california".... LMAO, OH YES THEY DO, and i have FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE, and yes they ask for credit card UPFRONT and they also perform stuff that you did not OK which ends up costing you MORE. I see $500 as CHEAP for an emergency vet! sad really when you think about it huh? i hope you end up a better vet than those that charge a lot :p
I do recall youre other post about the baby with the disabled legs and i have seen those carts you were talkign about! I saw them on TV and it REALLY helps with mobility! I hope her legs get fixed.... what is her name????? (lol, if you get her a cart are you going to name her wheels? hehehe)

I agree. Just a reminder to look at what you write and don't jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts.
