Thank you mods!!!! I kept reading that thread saying, "Don't get suspended, don't get suspended, don't get suspended." Thank you for closing that thread. |
x2! :) |
I might have missed something good, because up until page 6 the debate was still pretty civilised. :P |
x3. do you know how hard it was not to post on that thread. |
I thought a few of us would be appreciative. :D |
Well I missed this one. |
I too am very appreciative of the great job that admin and the mods do to keep everyone as happy and as peaceful as possible! |

But regardless, rules are that political threads are a no-no, so...doesn't really matter if it was civil or not, I suppose. :) |
I knew it was only a matter of time untill both threads got closed |
I was up til 3am responding to it....oh well, too bad it was taking down  |

I don't see why we couldn't have just one thread. I know it's in the rules, but this is kind of freakishly major. I thought the debate was pretty civilized. But whatever. Good job to the mods for upholding the rules, even though I would've liked for the thread to have remained open. |

I think the members can handle alot more than we are given credit for sometimes though. The thread had already turned to talk about the first dog and Michelle Obamas dress. I really dont think the thread got that bad for political talk with members with different views |

I know the mods want to keep YT all about our dear sweet little Darling Yorkies. :aimeeyork |

Oh well I guess... it is a major thing going on in our country right now, but I can understand the forum wanting to keep the peace. |
Well I am a rule follower so if it was against the rules I apologise for having participated. That said, I believe it was a very interesting thread, and it helped me realise I have nothing in common with a lot of people on this forum except the love for my dog, and to me that is a very positive thing. Sometimes antagonising positions don't let us see beyond the differences, but in this case we are all here to share our experiences with our beloved yorkies. My Humps seems to be a political machine though, he only remains calm when I turn the newschannels on, you guys should see him right now... on the sofa facing the tv, front paws under chin and his rear legs are crossed!!! |

There are plenty of forums out there that let you post about politics all day long, but this is YORKIE talk...it's best to just keep the peace. :cf57: That way we all still have a place to go that can be enjoyed where we can escape the media frenzy and everyday life for a while. |

As my old gran said 'For goodness sake, agree to differ' wise words.:) |
I agree that this is yorkie talk, but we also have an off topic discussion forum for things that don't have to do with yorkies. I prefer not to live by "it's only a matter of time," because no one really knows what's going to happen. For all we know, that thread could've remained civil. It's really not that hard to escape the threads you don't like on here...just don't read them. and I know how annoying it is to have that said to you, but it's true. IF the thread had gotten out of hand, I would've supported it's being closed 100%, but it hadn't, so it doesn't make sense to me. On another forum I'm on, we have pages and pages of a political thread going, and we are able to keep the peace. I'm a mod on there, and there are some people who get out of hand, but the members in general are able to remain civil, and I believe the nice folks on here are able to do so, as well. But it's alright. It's in the rules, so it's not like it was unfairly closed. It's just something I disagree with, is all. :) |

But, we can all agree to disagree about an agreement of disa..... nope, too early for that. Like you said, bottom line is, rules are rules.:) |
I'm the admin on an MS board and what I did was create a board specifically for politics. That way it stays out of our general discussion area. |

I didn't see any name calling, but I may have missed it. Like I said, on the other forum I mod, people get out of hand sometimes. So what we do is we take care of those people and send them a PM/edit their post, but I don't think its fair to take the discussion away from people who are truly in it to discuss. When I joined that discussion I was pumped to talk about it with my YT friends, I didn't want name calling. With politics comes heat in any case, but the heat can be kept under control. My VERY dearest friend and I disagree on this subject, and yet we were able to watch the election together last night - debating - but without a negative word towards each other. It's really not that hard to be civil, and I honestly think that, given the chance, the majority of YT'ers would be able to handle it. |
