I am beyond devestated!!!!!!! About 3 days ago we adopted out one of our pitbulls. Today I got a knock at the door. It was the guy wanting to bring her back. I have no problem taking her back. i walked outside to his car with her and he tells me she got into a fight with his other dog and is pretty bad. She is horrible!!! She is bleeding and has several cuts and bites all over her. She can't stand up or walk. She looks like he fought her. I have been calling vets all day and nobody will let me work out payment arrang. with them. The police came by and took pics of her. The DA wants us to get her to the vet ASAP to get everything documented. They want to press charges on the guy. I am lost and dont know what to do. My husband just started a new job and we are broke. We have less that $100 to live on for 2 weeks. I am in shock that no vet will see her without full payment. They would all just rather let her die. I show she is a pit but no dog deserves this.I just cant afford to get he into the vet right now. Wouldnt have been so bad if the alter. hadnt gone out on my car yesterday costing me almost $200 to replace. Anyone have any suggestions??? |

I'm so very sorry! THat is just horrific! The poor baby... All vets are like that around here. They have something called carecredit, you just need to apply for it at the vet's office. It's a credit card for any healthcare needs. |
my credit is pretty bad so i dont have any credit cards. i tired to get the carecredit but didnt qualify. i would put pics but im not sure anyone really wants to see how bad she is. I have been in tears all day. breaks my heart!! |

Aww, poor baby- I am so sorry! I know there are a lot of options besides care credit but I don't remember any of them. You might find other options searching through YT because this type of thing has come up many times and there are always so many suggestions. I know you don't have time to sit around and wait for them to come in and want to get her to a vet but don't give up looking. Good luck- sending hugs! |
Call the animal shelter, tell them the whole situation and what the police said and see if they will help you. I hope the guy goes to jail for what he did to that poor dog. What a monster!!!!!! :mad: |

i would say call the DA and explain that if he wants you to take him to a vet and get things documented then he will have to take care of the vet bill...otherwise if they dont have documentation...he can kiss his case against this guy goodbye. |
You might also want to try the local Humane Society. I know that ours offers lower cost treatment for low-income people; maybe with your current situation they'd be willing to work out something. |
Perhaps a breed rescue may be willing to help. Here is a link to a website that lists all the pitbull/amstaff rescues state by state PBRC WebApp | Organizations I know it is like 90 miles away but maybe the SPCA in Oklahoma City can help you. I sure wish there was something I could do. |

How about the SPCA or local pound who has a vet working with it. That poor dog. The fright it must have incurred. I am so sorry. I hope his butt get's nailed to the wall but somehow I doubt it. A dog in dire need of medical treatment should not be denied by any vet! Period! Call the police dept and tell them you can't get medical help because of finances and the dog needs it now! Beg them for assistance. Good luck to you and your dog. Contact the local paper also. Let them do a story on this. Put that sicko behind bars. |
The vets in my town don't accept payments either, but there is one out in the country that does. Keep calling around, I'm sure you'll find someone that will help! The rescue's and shelters. I sure hope you find someone to help your sweet baby! |
First of all, that guy deserves to be prosecuted. IF he didn't fight her, then it is clear he was not a responsible owner at all. IMO, you have to slowly introduce a new dog to the home no matter what breed it is...not allow them in unsupervised to where the opportunity for her to be that badly injurred could occur. As far as getting her treated, if you don't have a CC to put it on and you absolutely can't find a vet, I would think to maybe contact a rescue group who can take her and have her bills covered. Write them a check and ask them to hold it until xyz date or something? Let it bounce? I don't know. Poor girl...:( |

This is absolutely horrid. The monster that adopted her should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Since you said you adopted the her out you it sounds like you are working with a pit rescue agency to rehabilitate pits so that they make good pets. Why not contact the agency you are working with and surrender her to someone who had the financial means to take care of her immediate medical needs. |
turn her in to the aspca they will document and care for her and if things are better later maybe you could adopt her but she needs help now and that man needs to be punished |
OMg what an awful situation. First of all I think that the person who returned her should have to foot the bill. She was in his care when this happened. Second of all. I think its a disgrace that no vet will take care of her because you dont have the money.!!!! Thats an absolute disgrace. Makes you wonder were their morals are. |
I did get her into a vet today that was willing to work with us. She has to have hers ears cleaned 3 times a day, and take a pill twice a day. They also gave us a spray to keep all of th wounds clean. She is going to be ok. Just gotta keep her indoors and let her wounds heal. |

I am glad to hear that she is going to be ok. I hope that the DA prosecutes..... I am a bit confused, though. Is this female a dog that you bred and sold or are you working as a Pit Bull Rescue and this was an adoption gone bad? |

That is good news you were able to see a vet. I can imagine how relieved you must be. I do hope the authorities follow through with this and get his butt before a judge! Sending warm thoughts and prayer's your girl heals nicely. |
I am so glad that you was able to find a vet and get her in. I also have a Pit Bull....the mother belonged to my daughter and she had 13 puppies, I ended up taking in 9 of them to find them homes and it was tough. I came across a lot of people that I had to say no to cause I did not feel comfortable with them taking them. One went to her home and she did not get along with the ladies other dog or her child so she is now our dog. I sure hope you can keep her so nothing bad happens to her again. There are so many cruel people out there. I would love to see pics of her. |
