OK seriously, what are these and how do I get rid of them!?

The title pretty much says it all. They LIVE in my HOME! Before we moved into this house I had never seen one or even known they existed. They scare me more than anything in the world haha and I have no clue what they are...which makes it hard to find a way to get rid of them. Can anyone help me out with that?

I've heard that they're centipedes (which...holy cow. I've seen a lot of centipedes in my life...but don't they have small legs?), my friend thinks they're silverfish (but they have more legs than the silverfish I found on google), and last night someone referred to them as a "Devil's bug" or something.

I don't care what they're called haha...but I want them out. Even the picture scares me.They're always in the bathtub or on the floor in the bathroom or outside on the porch. and they scare the CRAP out of me! haha. Can anyone help!?

LOL Megan - I'm not scared of bugs (I collected them when I was a kid) but that really is a creepy looking one - fascinating but creepy and I don't think I'd want them in my house either.....that Flickr page was pretty funny - loved the comments !!

I don't think they're silverfish - they look more like centipedes. Way cool to watch with those zillion legs - good thing they don't need shoes - can you imagine shopping for that many feet ???

Oh, the one the other night was rather pathetic. I always like shove Lilly in the bedroom and shut the door and she hears me beating and banging and starts barking . The darn spider was running from me, I'd hit it and smoosh it around to kill it (in fear that it would jump or something and attack me) and it was trying to hide behind her toy baskets and I was afraid it'd get her toys LOL. My mom laughs at me and says she'd love to have a hidden camera in my house watching me. They're grosssss though

They are house centipedes. They are not posinous though and cant harm dogs, thats what i read but am not sure. i think one bit me a while ago, i woke up with a big red thing on my waist. they are so fast, i think i read they like to live near wood or water.

that is one creepy looking bug i was going to suggest you call some exterminating companys tell them that you have a bug but your not sure what kind it is. See if you can fax them them the picture and can tell you more or less what it is.

This was all in the last 2 minutes.

I was just in my bathroom and I looked up and there was a FULLY GROWN one sitting in the corner of the cieling. Holy crap, right!? So I RUN the heck outta there, I turn around to turn off the light, there's ANOTHER one sitting on the lamp above the sink where I was just brushing my teeth!!!

So I SPAZZED and got my mom and when we went back in there...the one in the corner is gone. He went BYEBYE in .2 seconds. WHERE IS HE!?

Holy crap. I'm going to die. I'm sitting here with ALL of the lights on with my feet up and a baseball hat on my head. I need to go change out of my work uniform...but I'm NOT getting up!

I'm moving in with one of you haha.

Last time I tried to spray one with bug spray it ran after me. Not doing that again.

I don't blame you for being scared. Those things would freak me right out. Can you have the house sprayed or something? I'd sure look into that, as long as it didn't hurt the dogs.
One thing I know for certain, they are not silver fish.
