With the Hurricane last night and me lucky enough to have my power back - I've been checking on the ladies I know in Houston

I just talked to Linda (fufu) - she wanted everyone to know they have NO power and she said they're FINE but can't get online....I guess anyone waiting on orders will have to be patient cause we don't know for how long. We heard it could be up to 2 weeks.

I have NO idea why I have power but I do ...so I'm going to be the voice of those with none if I get ahold of everyone. I'm still waiting to hear from the YorkieCrazy's....

Anyone else in Houston and surrounding areas have power and are you ok ?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you all - it's just TOO HOT to be without air :( and I hope everyone is safe and made it thru the storm - and good luck to everyone who's going to get the rain etc from Yikes - It's still bad out there so be careful !!!

But Linda and family are A-ok - they made it thru the storm and are just hot.

Me too - it was plain SCARY. It really was. We didn't sleep at all and my girls were terrified with all the crashing and glass breaking but my apt made it thru. I played carpenter yesterday and it paid off - I have the only patio still standing out of about 20

Wow! Im impressed!! Good for you for thinking it out! Has it all calmed down in your area now?:) I saw Houston on the news...downtown was a bit of a mess.

Villette, I am waiting to hear from my good friend Denise. Gismo's Mom...I've called her cell and I am just getting a recording. She was very concerned about you. Have you heard from her?

Please let m:confused:e know if you do ASAP!

IT IS a mess. It's a mess here where I live too and I'm 20 mins from downtown - HUGE trees crashed into 2 townhomes right next door to me and my front door is blocked off by a 20 ft branch but we made it !

It was the scariest night I've ever had that's for sure.....my poor girls were just terrified.

I'm so worried about the people we haven't heard from yet - since most don't have power... it may be a while before we know everyone and their homes are all ok :(

I hope she's ok but I can answer that - we have NO Cell service and if she doesn't have power - there's no way to get ahold of her till she can get to a phone that works -

Linda (fufu) had a regular phone and that's the only reason I was able to talk to her - no one has cell service in houston that I know of

Good to hear from you V, and that you and your girls made it fine, the tapes shown on the news are devastating , we've been watching and remains me hurricane Andrew, back in 92.

Vilette glad to see you are ok, and have electric.. almost said (hydro) and that you have been checking in on members.. your a sweet person and thank you for this.. I watched this on tv until 3 a.m and could no longer stay awake.. was just thinking of you all.. glad to see this thread..

V ... it's wonderful to hear you and the girls are OK!! I prayed for God to watch over you ... I love it when I get my way!!! :p Thanks for letting us know that some of the others are OK too. I know it's not over by a long shot and we will be praying for all of you and your continued safety.

yes. It really was the scariest night. I wore my husbands ring and just tried to keep my girls calm - but boy oh boy ...did I get ALOT of kisses last night from them...:) Everytime we heard a huge crash I'd say "WOW That was a big one" ! - and they'd race to my face and kiss me for 5 minutes lol

they're still upset and pacing... but I'm trying to act like it's all fun and nothing to be scared of. We can't go outside but Miss Nosy Chanel is spying out on my patio thru the fence posts when I let her out cause there's LOTS of stuff to look at all over the place ...

I've never seen a nosier dog in my life :D:D:D

Anyone who hears from anyone ...please let us know ok ? I may not have power too much longer - it keeps going in and out

O V! I just logged in to see if I could get news of ya'll over there! I was sure praying hard for you and all in this monsters path! I know we had a doozy of a time last week!

I am so glad to hear that you and the girls are ok... you are doing a great thing, checking on everyone and keeping up posted....

funny you say that about Chanel... I was just talking about the "spy girls" last nite!

Vilette! You and the others have been on my mind all day. I check in with CNN often and the damage is unbelievable. It's amazing that some homes are just GONE!, and others left seemingly untouched. I know Kim(simonandhallie) had said she called you and was worried, also. I hope you and the girls know you were prayed for and thought of often!! Good for you for preparing and saving your patio! We girls can be very resourceful when we need to! Hope the others are OK and that the power is returned soon.

V - so glad to hear that you and the girls are okay and thanks for the update on Linda. I pray that everyone else is okay and that power is restored before to long.

I've been through one hurricane in my life - waaaaaay back when I was about 13 years old. I was visiting my sister on a navy base in Corpus Christi, Tx. when Hurricane Celia arrived. The navy base had us all go into an airplane hanger (I think it was) and what I remember the most is hearing about one of the hanger doors (garage-type) blew in; rather than up & down like it was made to do. That was a scary deal for a 13 year old.

Hugs & prayers to you and everyone who have had to face such a terrible storm.

Im so glad some of you members have been able to check in. I stayed up until 5:00 am watching CNN. What a mess. I heard them saying once it could be 2-4 weeks and even longer before Power is back on for everyone. I hope everone is safe.


We had a real bad icestorm here a few years ago. I know nothing like what you all got last night. but even that icestorm was scary. ele wires down. we didnt get power for almost a week and most didnt have it back for 2-3 weeks.We was very Thankful for our propane oven. it kept our house warm & cozy and we were still able to fix a big Turkey and have Christmas Dinner. there was people living in their cars/ vans just to stay warm. we offered them all to come stay with us, but most of them wouldnt.

I'm sorry I missed her call :(- I don't have call waiting anymore to save $$ but will see if I can reach her - if you talk to her tell her I said hi and kiss the monkeys for me.

We don't have any water to speak of (the whole city) so it's going to be a while before our area is back to normal. I still can't believe how bad that storm was. It was the scariest night of my life and I know others have gone thru the same feelings....It sure makes me appreciate the things we take for granted....phones - tv - AIR CONDITIOING - and especially - our lives.

We should do a thread for everyone to check in when they get power ....I know there's lots still missing :( but hardly anyone has electricity right now. Thankfully - it's going to be cooler this coming week.

I just hope and pray everyone is ok. Natural disasters are terrifying to watch and live through and I will keep all those families in my prayers!

Glad you and Linda and your families are all safe:love: These storms are very scary, we went through 3 of them in two years a couple of years ago (frances, jeanne, and wilma) with the first two being direct hits:eek: Prayers going up for all affected by these awful things:hands:

Hi Vilette...I was SOOO relieved when I saw your email this morn and felt even better after talking to you. I hope and pray all the others have come through this unharmed.

I am still so amazed that you have power! Truly amazed! You are a lucky lady! It must have been the prayers. It broke my heart thinking of you last night and putting in such a frightful night. Thank God you and your babies are alive and well! *HUG*
