And while some people may consider copying to be a form of flattery that still doesnt make it right. Its not fair for one person to spend all the time, effort, and creativity coming up with a really cute design and to have someone come along and just copy it for cheaper. Ive had it done to me several times and even by a big name dog clothing designer and it is not a good feeling. I should have been paid for my designs/pattern that was being reproduced but I didnt. So basically I did all the work and someone else got the credit and is getting paid, it doesnt make it right. This thread was just started to sort of vent frustrations out and also I really feel that my YT family would support us YT storeowners who work hard to come up with our own designs. I just feel so many people dont realize all the little issues that are going on in the sellers world and I talk to many sellers weekly who are frustrated and so I finally felt like I needed to be the voice for everyone. And as far as a simple dog dress pattern, that is not what Im refering to with the copying issue either. Like I said before I know there is only so many ways to make a dog dress and there is going to be people buying the same fabric. Actually many of us have picked out the same fabrics which is fine when you make different styles out of it, it just is not really an issues. Me and Jodi end up with the same taste in fabric many a time and we know it and we always try and make our dresses look different from each other when this happens. The issue is when someone copies techniques and designs that are unique to a particular seller or if someone goes out and gets the exact same fabric, exact same embellishments, same trim, exact same bow or even calls the dress by the same name and basically replicates an entire outfit that someone else has designed. Those are the issues Im refering too.

| ![]() I liked the fabric of the linking monkeys, I bought it in the tan & white, did the bows different. When I named it, I honestly did not realize that I was naming it the same as what you had named yours. I can see how that may have been weird, however not intentional. Other than those, I have tried to buy my fabrics from different sources. Quote:

| ![]() Your dresses, Jodis dresses, Cynthias dresses are all elaborate designs. Different from my beginner basic ones therefore I am not copying your designs. While my dresses are basic I make sure they are durable and something I would want to purchase, this is why I am selling at a lower price. Like I said before I am far from the $6,000.00 for Jazzies surgery, that is why I am trying to sell some dresses. Quote:

| ![]() LOLOLOLOL Ya people are forever jumping on a popular design! Just walk through any target or Kmart and you'll see a thousand knockoffs! Imitation is a form of flattery, but carbon copying is another thing if you ask me... its just underhanded and deceitful. And speaking of deceit... The idea that you hand made a design then had it mass-produced so you could sell it to all of your friends here on Yorkie Talk under the guise of "look what I am working on now for your babies!" This particular vendors items are no more lovingly made than the socks your wearing on your feet. And at those overseas prices how many of you had really convinced yourselves otherwise?? I don't like being lied to or made a fool of as a customer. I remember many posts where it was asked if this person had hand made these items and the questions were side stepped or simply left unanswered.... Miss a chance to bump a thread? that is totally out of character for a vendor ![]() I could go on and on and on and on... but you get my point. At least when I buy from the hand full of vendors that I do, I can look at the items and know that the designs are orignal and lovingly labored over. I'll gladly pay a premium for that... not that I do 80% of the time.. I fine the "good" guys to be pretty comparable in the end. ![]()

| ![]() I've order from a couple of wonderful vendors here - and I've LOVED everything I've received for my babies. I sew, and could make their clothing myself - but I choose not to because I worked as a seamstress for a major children's clothing manufacturer for years and now I HATE to sew anything. I know exactly how hard it is to be creative, and to come up with a unique style or design. To have someone "clone" it and pass it off as their own is stealing. There - I said it!

| ![]() I didnt start this thread to "gripe" about competition. I just used to be a member of a yorkietalk that was openly honest and used to care about it's members and support each other so heaven forbid I start a thread about some issues that have been going on. And I think it is perfectly okay if those "mom and pops" stores vented about walmart too ![]()
