| First day of school - it's official Well, today was our first day of school and I am now officially a parent of a HIGH SCHOOLER!!!! My baby started Kindergarten today. My dear middle child started middle school/junior high, and my oldest is now officially a freshman in high school. I only cried a....well, a LOT. Surprisingly I took the middle child's hardest of all. The youngest joined her classmates in the circle and was like, "Bye, Mommy!" The oldest went into "I don't know you" mode the minute we pulled up to the high school. Only my middle one looked scared to death and like he really needed his mom, but was naturally far too cool to admit it.

They sure did! They got some really cool school supplies and some very stylish outfits. Little S even got herself some Hannah Montana undies! LOL S was very upset today because she is not in the same class as my little one this year. I'm hoping she does better. She was very scared this morning. She didn't know anyone in her class. J strutted his handsome self into school. He is in the 5th grade, which is the last grade before starting middle school so he is a big man on campus this year.

YT 2000 Club Member | My kids don't start back till September 2, it's the first year for this late start. I love summer brake with my kids but it is nice to get them all back in school because they do get so board. My oldest starts his first year of high school too! I have one in 9, 8, 7 and 6th grade, and I will still cry every year on the first day of school, ever since they started pre school

| In Walker County (North Georgia) the children started back to school on August lst. That was on a Friday. The following week we had temperatures ranging from 94 to 98. I am sure it cost a lot to cool those buildings. If they started later it might save some money.

| School starts here on August 20. Personally, I am not ready to go back!! I have really enjoyed my summer. When all 7 of my kids were home, I hated to see school start. Now, I just have my youngest son, a sophomore and my youngest daughter, a senior. One thing I have gotten really good at is graduation parties! However, I am running out of room for all the senior pictures!!

| I can definitely relate......... my son starts high school on Monday. I'm not taking it very well at all. Last night after band practice a (gasp!) Senior invited him to go to Dairy Queen with a few people, so like a dork I just waltz up in there and get my ice cream and sit down with them and a hush comes over the crowd. Then I realize it's because a MOM is there. Gone are the days when I can hang out with his friends, I guess. I politely excused myself to run next door to the store and then called him and told him I was back and sitting outside when he was ready. I felt so pathetic! LOL My daughter is starting second grade, so I've still got a while to go with her... God help me when she goes off to the big, bad high school! I'm so glad furbabies don't grow up and lose their need for you.....
