I wasn't laid off, I was let go due to a car accident. I broke my neck, and went back to work with a neck brace and had to take a taxi just to make it to work. I was having so much pain that my doctor wanted me to go to part-time. My boss didn't like that and replaced me without telling me. I lost my job, my new suv (totaled) and my house all in less than one year.

I don't think he can do that... there has got to be some legalities about that or SOMETHING.

I'm sure with the economy the way it is...there are more dealing with lay offs...I hope they can do something to help the Automotive sector...it will be a ripple effect....more and more jobs will be lost..
I am still not working....looking and applying everywhere....had a few interviews..but have not landed a job....almost 5 months now....I keep trying....

I will most likely be getting laid off from my job soon. This is such bad timing, especially during xmas time. I told everyone I will not be buying any gifts until i find out for sure, of course except for Cookie she got a few gifts already. I will probably find out on Friday. And the thing that sucks the most is that if im not laid off some one from another department with more senority that does get laid off they can come and take my job Please pray for me

I was laid off yesterday after 4 years teaching at a college! As of yesterday they had cut 98 people. I got a very very small severance package and have spent yesterday and today with dept of labor for unemployment crap and career counselors. I've been trying to leave NY so I think this is the opportunity to do that but still....this really really sucks. My car was damaged in our ice storm last week and is going to take 3-4 weeks to fix so I'm a big fat mess.

Thank god my mom comes on Friday! I'm sorry to everyone going through this, I always thought I had a safe job in higher education. I hate feeling this way!

I was laid off July 1 and just returned to the same company last week. i had to take a different job but at least I have a job. I think it is going to be harder to get a job. Every time I turn the tv on someone else is laying off a large amount of people.

Yep just got laid off. Got the notice today. My last day will be January 16th. What a way to start the New Year. I'll have to save every penny i have. That means i wont even go out and celebrate my birthday 1 1/2 weeks. Ims so depressed.

Sending you guys a big hug. Hubby was laid off earlier in the year for two months then called back and then laid off again after two weeks. Then a friend put him on to this other job. While there after three weeks hubby got a raise and a promotion. So the ugly green monster came out. The supposed friend was his supervisor and was so hating. So after hubby was no longer working under him for two weeks (after receiving his promotion) this fool went to management and said he was terminating him because they have friction when they work together. Like hello he doesn't work with you anymore but he had the management snowed and they terminated hubby. So he is back to looking. Praying that 2009 is a lot better for all of us. I for one have had a this year start crappy and really kick us a whole lot.

My husband has just been laid off - his last day is Christmas Eve He's a plant mechanic for JCB and he's been affected because of the collapse of the building trade here. His severance pay is just three weeks pay

I was suppose to find out Friday weather or not i got layed off but due to the ice storm we had they cancelled work so will find out tomorrow. I have 20 yrs in this place but if they go by department senority i could be affected,all because i took a job trying to better myself, now the job dosen't exsist and i am back to square one.
