| Yes, I'm in the middle of reading Breny's threads now... so much to learn, but it sounds like her baby has come a long way and is now thriving!! So happy to see that!

| Well, the second feeding of her little life - at exactly 24 hours old - went pretty well, so I feel a little better.... at least she's getting a bit of nourishment. She can't form her mouth to suckle, but she's slowly taking the drops of formula from the eye dropper and swallowing rather that "gurgling" - so I'm happy about that. I've been frantically searching for Natalie's snuggle buddy (heat disc) - to no avail.... I have absolutely NO idea where I put that thing... <<grrrrrrrr>> so right now, I'm using a heated rice bag for warmth in Emma's bed.... I'm afraid to sleep though, because it doesn't stay warm for long. Gonna' be a long night, but I'll rest easier tomorrow when I'm able to get out and get another snuggle buddy for her so I don't have to worry about her getting chilled. I've found a wealth of information from previous YT posts and am feeling more positive about Emma already. In PM'ing with Sammi (again, I can't tell you enough how much you are appreciated!!) and from the information that she has provided - I'm feeling like Emma may be lucky enough to only have a cleft lip - with a normal palate..... we'll know for certain at tomorrow's vet visit. I really need to say..... that had I not been a part of YT - and had I not known that there would be an abundance of wisdom, experience and support here.... I don't think I could ever have found it inside myself to bring this little angel home............... but I'm so glad I did - - - regardless of the outcome! Thanks to all of you!!

| We are so thankful for people like you. This reminds me of a bird I rescued 2 weeks ago. We had a big storm and the next day I went to one of my classes and walked outside for our break (the classes are 3hrs long since they are summer classes...so we get 10min breaks). I noticed this little bird sitting on the mat by one of the doors and he was covered in ants. At first I thought he had a hurt leg, so I went upstairs and showed him to my math professer and he told me to do what I needed to do. I took him to the nature cented and they wouldnt take him, so they gave me a name of a bird rescuer, who ended up not taking him either, due to not having the room for him. I took him to my vets office. They said he was not hurt, but was in shock instead. They gave me a number of a rescuer 2 hours away. The rescuer could not take him until the next day. I put him in a box and put a towel mostly over it, to keep him in a safe place where he would not be distracted. I feed him watered down dog food, as you would feed a puppy, because that is what the rescuer said to do. The next morning I drove 2 hours and gave her the bird. He is doing well and is out on his own. I hope your little puppy does just as well. I know she has a great future ahead of her. She has already beaten the odds. These first two days are the most critical, because that is when they get all the good stuff to protect them from diseases from their mothers milk. I would def. get some supplements asap.

Yes, the first few days and mother's milk, I know... this is one of the things I'm so worried about.... because the only mama that Emma has, is me.... I was kind of hoping that our Cessy would give me a hand with Emma as far as helping to keep her clean and warm... give her some of the natural interaction she's missing from not being with her own mom.... but Cessy is still quite busy with her baby Jethro (even though he's a big boy at 15 weeks old already!!) and is interested in Emma as more of a "squeaky toy" rather than a new adopted daughter! So, I think it's best to keep some distance there for now. Besides, without having those additional antibodies from her mom, I'm afraid to let Emma near ANYONE or ANYTHING at this point... Has anyone used Bene-Bac with newborns? Do you think that Emma would benefit from it?

| YAY!!! 3rd feeding went well again and the "after feeding" was even better!!! (I promise not to update EVERY time she eats, haha!) But........ she did eat well.... just tiny bits every time... 'bout 1 - 1.5 cc each feeding.... and THEN - she did a good job "makin' a pee" with some stimulation... AND........ her very first POOP!!! (I'm so excited!!) haha... I know, I know.... I'm a freak.... but seriously... it was just a relief to know that everything else seems to be functioning normally - so I feel great about that... Thank you all again and again for your posts!! <<big hugs>>
