Well, it's 'bout 3:30 am .... she ate... she peed.... she's warm... and now.... she sleeps....

I, on the other hand - am trying to figure out just exactly WHAT I WAS THINKING when I purchased a heating pad with a 60 MINUTE AUTO SHUT OFF SWITCH!!!!!!! Ugh............ I wish PetSmart was open 24/7 <<yawwwwwwn>>

Well, are you planning on staying up all night? I guess if it shuts off every hour...hmmm. Is there anyone there to help you? I know just how you feel. I raised a baby bird once. I had to feed him every two hours, around the clock. I was one weary woman!!!

I may be up all night anyway... not used to having a little one around - - paranoid...

BUT, I tossed that silly heating pad.... wasn't good for anything anyway... didn't heat hardly at all and certainly not worth stressing over it going off every 60 minutes.

So, I've got her tucked in with the heated rice bag and on the other side, a 2 liter "hot water bottle".... so that should give a good 2 hours of warmth if I do drift off a bit.

(I think I've taken as many pictures of this baby in the 8 hours since I've had her as I did my first born skin child!!! haha!)

Ohhhhhhh and Des... if you see this.... just gotta' thank you one more time for doin' up those fleece pull overs for me!!! This one made a FABULOUS hot water bottle cover for the baby!!! :D :thumbup:

How very precious. So tiny. My gosh, I don't know how anyone could not be protective over such a little thing like that. Sometimes, it's like God taps you on the shoulder and says "Hey. Got a job for you to do"..... :)

Well, I went to bed but couldn't sleep. Thinking of you and that baby. I hope you eventually get some rest. I wish I were near you. I would help you.

I do have appointments tomorrow so I am going to try to get some sleep.

I'm a firm believer in "Things happen for a reason". Bless you for seeing that ad, putting your own grief aside and taking the chance on more heartache by giving that little sweetie a chance. It looks like you are doing everything right:). She seems to be fighting and that's good. Emma is a very lucky little girl that she has you as her guardian angel. Prayers are on their way for a good visit at the vet. Oh, BTW, she is soooooooo beautiful:).

You have done such a wonderful thing saving this little one. Poopoo and PeePee is what new Mommies always talk about. Emily is a very lucky little girl to have found such a caring new Mommy. Good luck with the new baby.

Hi Dena-
Don't know if this has been mentioned to you or not, but Brenda (Breny) has a chi that has a cleft lip and/or pallet (not sure), but she's raised her from birth and still has her. I'm sure she would be an AMAZING reference for you. Good thing this baby found you :)

I'm going to search for the thread of Breny's baby. I think her name is Tia.

OMG - I'm at work reading this and have tears rolling! What memories this brings back for me.

THANK YOU for taking this baby in!!!! If I can be of any help, pls let me know. It was a VERY long road for me...I learned as I went and it was just me and Tee Tee, but we made it! She is TWO years old and still the light of my life!!!

Tia does not have the face deformity but she does have a cleft pallet. Her cleft is in her soft pallet. I have not had it surgicaly repaired, she eats hard food and drinks from a water bottle. But it was a VERY long road.

I'm here if you need anything.

I wanted to post a link that helped me. Back then I had NO clue what to do...I was on my own with no help and I found this : Cleft Palate Instructions

It helped alot!

I wanted to add...I didn't use the recipe they suggested though. I raised Tia on another home made recipe.
