That is one scary thing to happen. Glad no one fell in. Think sink holes can show up anywhere. We have one about 30 miles away from us. Swallowed up a farm---house and all, a road intersection and about 1/3 mile in all four directions from the intersection. Haven't heard lately whether it has stopped or not.

It is the Drainage is what caused it.

Hi Lori, so sorry this is happening. Jack and I saw the one picture which shows the open end of a pipe we was wondering if this could have been a once used old septic tank maybe it wasn't filled in when abandoned and just gave way due to rains. Our septic tank is next to the house on the west side, and there is one pipe going into it but it is a large drain line going into it. Many years ago people didn't have to get permits and go by code to install septic systems. A neighbor down the road had something similiar happen but it was because the septic tank was old and gave way, they had to put in a new system. There's sunk about three feet. Hopefully someone can find out and it won't be difficult to take care of. Please be real careful around it.

WOW! I wouldn't know what to do if that happened here except call my homeowner's insurance and start asking questions. I'm so sorry!

We had a Guy comed out and look at it and he says it is a old cistern

the Old style water holding tank so to hold water collected

We have people coming out on Tuesday to look into it further.

oh my lori.... that would have me scared also... please keep us updated.. glad your babies are all ok and it was found first... thinking of you and praying it is not a real expensive fix..

I was thinking this same thing, thats exactly what it looks like, back long ago they would just leave them when they go bad and start another, now they crush and fill them, that looks like it wasnt crushed or filled.

Becarefull with those fur-babies Lori.

Thank you all for your thoughts and Prayers. I willl resize some more pictures and post this afternoon.
It is a old Cistern Like I said :) Not a Septic TG We have it stablized and will have another pro to look at it today. And I think that they'll Really start the work on Turesday.. Just pray we don't get to much if any Rain.

Holy shat! Keep an eye on your furkids Lori that doesn't look good at all. Please don't let them or anyone else go near there. It looks like a pretty big hole. Please be safe!
