Lab Puppy Kills 2 Month Old Baby Police: Dog Kills 2-Month-Old Infant In Tulsa - FOX23 News The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death of a two month old infant. For now--- police believe a black labrador puppy attacked and killed the baby. The boy died inside the home at 101st and Evanston late this morning. Police say the infant was left unattended in a swing with two dogs in the room, the lab puppy and a pug. The black lab has been euthanized. A neighborhood was stunned to hear a two-month old baby was attacked and killed in his own home. "It's shocking and it's tragic and it's really hard to watch it. I feel helpless and I feel like I need to do something to help them," said neighbor Heegin Davis. EMSA says any dog can turn dangerous. "Even a very familiar family dog can turn on you, puppies specifically, they're unpredictable, they're young, they got a lot of hormones going on, you've never know what they're gonna do," says Chris Stevens of EMSA. In fact, nearly all the dog bites EMSA has treated in the last three months have involved dogs the children have known. "Never let an animal sleep in the same room as your child, have your pets spade or neutered, it does relieve a lot of the aggression." While EMSA says it's rare for a child to die from a dog attack, many attacks leave serious wounds, because there's virtually nothing a child can do, to fend off an animal. |
What a tragic story. I think there is more to the story than meets the eye. The Labs are a gentle breed. It dosen't make sence. Where may I ask was the person incharge of this baby's welfafe? That's who is responsible for this baby loosing it's life IMO. That EM technician should keep his thoughts to himself. He's not qualified to answer questions from the press. They just love answer's like he gave. Stupid ones at that. Hormones going wild? It was a puppy! Something is not right here. |
I agree I don't think we're getting the whole story. I do not believe a puppy "attacked" and killed the baby. Something isn't right here. |
oh this is a terrible news!! How sad... :( |
What a tragic story....Never heard of a lab attacking an infant before......but regardless.....why was this child unsupervised??? |
You know there are things missing..I do agree. But I do feel that any dog can become aggressive. You never know. Other dogs do attack..it's just the pitbulls and rottweilers are the premier reported becaus people fear them so. May that baby rest in peace and I pray that the police get to the bottom of it. Such a senseless tragedy. |
I 100% blame owners....In 99.9 % of cases the word "loose" or "unattended" appears. TAKE CARE OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITES!!!! I wouldnt leave a child unattended with a yorkie let alone a Lab and pug. My thoughts- baby is in swing, moving...dog seen it as a toy....and thougth he was playing with it. Now why does that constitute being put to sleep? Its tragic I dont wanna come off as heartless but at the same time Sounds like the parents need to be held responsible. Oh and the hormones comment BRILLIANT!! when all else fails blame it one the dog being unstable, hormones off, oh SPAY AND NEUTER yes this ALWAYS helps spoken like a true MORON IMO. How about "Parents watch your children, dont leave unattended with dog" Hell they even put that on plastic bags.......DUH Oh and People Dogs are NOT intended for use as a floatation device ;) Does it always have to be spelled out or does common sense kick in??? |
Thats so terribly sad. |

Yep what suffered thru all this is a poor lil soul of a puppy and baby so very sad |
What a horrible tragedy. I didn't realize they had already put the dog down. In the paper this morning they did not even release the names either. That is just so sad. You know I just thought of something. That baby was 2mo. old. I used a swing for both of mine two but they were about 6mo. old before I put them in one and even then had to prop them with little blankets on each side. Doesn't a 2mo. old baby seem pretty small to be put in a swing? Just a thought. |

This happened in my hometown, only about 30 mins from me. There has been a lot of speculation locally, about the parents and grandmother, as to exactly what they were doing while this happened:confused:. I know on every infant seat, baby swing, high chair or anything to do with small children, there is normally a warning about "not leaving child unattended", obviously they didn't pay any attention to the warning. And, didn't have the common sense to not leave an infant and puppy together in the same room unattended. Tragically because of the parent's neglect, a poor little baby has died, and an innocent (probably only playing) puppy has been euthanized. Neither had to happen. I'm sure there is more to the story, there has to be. |
just to add.. the puppy was 6 weeks. I saw a newsclip of the puppy being removed from the house... he was the size of our yorkies... something is NOT adding up and that dog did not deserve to be put to sleep. and i mean NO sterotyping or generalization here but the mother of the baby is 17. Perhaps no one told her you can't leave a baby alone? wellt hat's can't be it.. it is basic knowledge you can't leave a baby alone... this whole thing is so upsetting... |

Charges should be laid to the parent(s) who left the poor baby unattended! |

I don't see a pup that young, regardless of breed, "attacking" anything. ANY breed can attack, but the age of the dog alone makes me think the whole story is not known. |
You are not getting the entire story you are very correct. But they will not release the rest of the story until they have interviewed the rest of the invovled people and finish processing what collected at the site. They released the babies name this morning. here is the story they ran.... TULSA, Okla. - Police have released the name of the baby who police say was mauled to death by a puppy Monday morning. The victim was identified as two-month old Zane Alen Earles. The black Labrador Retriever puppy suspected of killing the baby boy was euthanized at the Tulsa Animal Shelter at the request of police. Police and animal shelter staff took photographs of the puppy but it's not clear if officials also took bite impressions. A pug and two cats were also removed from the home. They're being held at the Tulsa Animal Shelter at 3031 N. Erie Avenue. EMSA was called to a home at near Evanston and 102nd Place on Monday morning. Paramedics say the baby boy was dead when they arrived. Tulsa Police were then called to the scene. Investigators say the baby's mother, father, and grandmother were at home when the mauling took place. Officers say the infant was left unattended in a swing and was bitten by the puppy. ------- Jencar, where are you located? I'm in Tulsa and you are right hon, lots more to the story. Heartbreaking. I can't believe this. |

I don't know Vee, and I agree about leaving a baby alone in a swing or with dogs. The local speculation, because of the "looks" of the parents and grandma has been drug usage. Which is a wrong assumption, not everyone with blue or orange hair and tattoos are drug abusers, as well as, not all 17 year old moms are irresponsible and neglectful. |
2 Attachment(s) They did not give the age of the father, but the mother is 17 and the father does not look very old either... father in black shirt Mom in hoodie. |

The whole story is a bit fishy for me. |

I agree that speculation was made VERY early on. |
