As teenagers....some of my older sisters and their friends used to hang out at Twin Oaks there under the trees in the evenings. The boys generally carried pints with them. So that was the local teenage hang out before my time. WE used to go about the islands , usually the smaller one, .....drinking rum and coke that we mixed by pouring out part of the coke (6 ounce bottles) and topping it off with rum. I am thankful that God allowed me to live through all that. I would die if one of my grandchildren was caught doing such. But neither of the boys drink or like to be around those that do so I guess I won't have to worry about that. Have you ever heard of Spook Light Road? It is now Altama or maybe even that name has changed...I think the mall is on that road now. We got taken out there to see the "Spook Lights" which I was later told was swamp gas or something like that. But when you are little and see things like that...it's pretty darn scary! Especially when the ones older than you are telling you really spooky things. We were always regaled with spooky stories. It's no wonder I still don't like it in the dark. Alone. | riding in a car without a seatbelt, riding a bike without helmet.. leaving the house without a cell (lol), and this one isnt that big of a deal but i wont let my future children watch films that are rated PG and more if i dont approve of it... now a days tv is so scary and too sexual in my opinion for a child 12 and under to watch.. |
