Ditto that! My friend from Iowa is coming to visit today through Sunday, and we're going to Myrtle Beach Hard Rock Park for a day and on the 4th we're going to the DMB concert also

A whole lot of nothing! I don't even know if we're going to get fireworks. We'll probably just go watch them at the lake.

We're going to really celebrate on the 3rd -- it is a tradition here to go to the gorgeous Iowa State Capital (pix below) for Yankee Doodle Pops -- it is a fantastic night -- everyone brings their blankets & chairs & so many a picnic and drinks and hear a variety of music.

a band will kick things off at 6:30pm followed by the Des Moines Symphony with Broadway star, Craig Schulman for some patriotic tunes. Also, Des Moines native and world famous Simon Estes will also perform.

They do this on the 3rd, so people can take advantage of all the parades, ball games, carnivals and other fireworks in the community on the 4th

But who knows what I'll do on the 4th. My dd started a job last week as a hostess and they immediately put her on the schedule - but they said she will probably get off early. Who wants to be inside a restaurant when the fireworks are going off

Like every 4th of July,we are going boating, and stay out on the bay for the firework display .

You're not the only ones We are also going "up north" to my parent's cabin in Door County WI. LOVE LOVE LOVE the parade there and the fireworks. (Only in WI would the high school band play "This Bud's for you" with the Budweiser truck IN the parade.. yep - every year!) There are tons of dog friendly restaurants and shops and we have the stroller this year so that will be awesome. I'm excited that the weather will be cool enough for the dogs to wear all their cute outfits - yes I'm a dork!
