Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Oh No!!!!!!! Still another storm!!! Well geez, it wasn't but what....2-3 weeks ago that we had a nasty storm blow through breaking off a large branch from the tree in our front yard. Now again this past Friday another one blew through........this one MUCH worse. It didn't last long, but the winds were calculated to be 80 mph. And look what it did this time............... #1 - this was the damage from the storm we had on June 8; one big limb fell on the driveway #2 - fast forward to this past Friday; June 27. I think it broke right at the same spot that the first limb fell.....I would guess due to it being weakened from the previous storm. Hubby is standing there wondering "Where do I start?" #3 - I zoomed in on this one......same tree........the whole top half of the tree is gone! #4 - I have to chuckle at this one....just how long do you think it would've taken hubby to get that debris down with THAT little saw???? Luckily we had help from neighbors with a chainsaw.

| I know the feeling! It's the same way here. The other day, I heard on the radio that we've had a storm of some sort every Thursday for the past month and a half!

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Now comes the scary part......... .....hubby and I were out driving in those 80 mph winds! We were on our way to PetSmart for Lexie's "graduation" from obediance class. I NEVER want to be out in something like that again! The winds started about 3 blocks from Petsmart at a busy intersection in rush hour traffic while we were stopped waiting for the green arrow so we could turn the corner. By the time we pulled into a parking space at Petsmart, the torrential rain started so we just sat in the car to wait it out. S C A R Y !!! The car was rocking side to side, then I felt wetness hitting me on my neck. When we turned around (as I knew I didn't have any windows open), we discovered to baseball sized holes in the back window of our Vue and watched as the strong winds and/or hail crumbled the rest of it. Lexie was on my lap shaking with fear and I wasn't feeling very brave either. The winds didn't last really long and when then subsided somewhat, we made a run for the Petsmart doors. Here is a pic of our poor car and some other damage around the city...... #1 - Yep.....we used to have a back window.... #2 & 3 a couple of pics I snapped on the way home from Petsmart #4 - this is a tree in a yard just 2 housed down from ours....CRAZY!

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | One more......and on a brighter note......... Here's just a few more pics of that evening..... #1 - this one too is just a few houses down on our street #2 - when I was looking up at the tree in our yard, I spotted two birds huddled in the branches. You can see the one clearly here, the other is there somewhere #4 - and mustn't forget the reason we were out in that storm to begin with.........presenting our obediance graduate.......Miss Lexie

| Boy, the storms here on plains can be sooo nasty. With all those branches down it's going to take awhile for the city to clean them up, aye? Does you car have hail damage, too? Or do you know for sure what happened to your back window? Your poor baby. I bet she was terrified. And you, too, of course. The other night just to the southeast of us the wind rolled two semis over. Harvest has been in full swing around here but the 3 inches of rain we got Friday/Saturday night slowed things up a bit. My dh is involved with the agricultural business so whatever happens to the farmer affects us. Sure glad you are okay. And congratulations to your graduate, Lexie.

We've gotten some bad ones lately too....luckily, I don't have any big trees directly around my house....just missing a few pots off my porch and deck...and had to replace a few trash cans but that's about it....sorry about your car window...geesh!! But glad you all are okay....and glad you made it to and back from Lexie's obedience graduation ceremony...she looks quite adorable in her cap!! Did she graduate Magna Cum Laude??? |
