a brown recluse is nowhere near that big and they have 8 legs. Chances are what you saw was a giant wolf spider. Freaky but harmless.

Brown Recluse spiders are bad news. I have never seen one in person, but I have seen the damage they can do. Please be careful!

OMG PLEASE watch your Yorkies. A couple of years ago my husband let the girls out to potty. He only left them for like two minutes in our back yard. I went to call them in and got a sick feeling in my stomach. I could see a lump lying in the yard and I screamed. I knew it was Bella. I ran to her, and she was limp. I ran her inside and tried to stand her up and she stood for a second, ran to her red house and fell over and defecated. I called the vet, but since it was 9pm I had to rush her to the emergency ER. Hubby drove and Bella wasn't looking good. I was of course hysterical. The tests showed her liver enzymes were extremely high. We were told that she was either poisoned or she could have a liver shunt. She was two years old at the time - she's now almost 5 yrs. old. She seemed to be coming out of it and they sent her home with us. She spent the next day with our normal vet who did tests etc. Everything came back fine. No liver shunt. He told us that she must have been bitten by a brown recluse spider. Now Bella is a bigger yorkie weighing in at 13 lbs. had she been a small Yorkie she would have died. They are deadly. Elaine
