Can Barbi Have Some Prayers
 
Barbi, my daughter, needs prayers.....again. We always have such strange stuff happen to us! Yesterday she was getting some "barn" kittens out. They are 6 weeks old and were stuck in the stairs. Richard pried up the step and she was getting them out. One of them beserk on her and bit her several times on her hands. She washed her hands really good and went on her way............to Austin on the back of the Harley for a ralley. By the time she got there, her hand was so swollen she couldn't bend her thumb. My best friend is an RN and she told her she should go to the ER asap because bites on the knuckle can be very dangerous. They kept Barbi in the ER most of the night on IV antiobiotics. Finally sent her back to the hotel with oral antiobiotics and told her to come back this morning if it was worse. Well it was much worse but Barbi didn't want to be in the hospital so far away from home so she is back on the Harley in 100 degree heat for the 4 hour ride back home and straight to the hospital. Apparently they are going to have to do some kind of surgery and flush it out. All this from a 6 oz kitten!!!!

Oh no! Big time prayers headed her way right now. Just in case...do you still have the phone number and directions to my house in Waco? If they need anything, we'll be home all morning. I'll pm you with the phone numbers again.

I just can't wait for them to get here. They are still on the road south of Dallas. I am going to just meet them at the hospital. Thank you so much for the prayers. She thanks you too because she is really scared.

Barbie should be there by now. Patty said that she was going to meet her at the hospital, so I doubt that she will be able to update for awhile. I'm sure she will just as soon as she can.

Patty, I continue to pray and send positive, healing thoughts to you and your daughter.

She'll be in my prayers!

Animal bites are nasty. I didn't realize how bad they could be til I was bit by a dog and waited to go to the Dr. The dr. said cat bites are usually worse since they have more germs in their mouths. I almost lost use of my hand due to the infection coming so close to the tendon.

I hope everything turns out okay. I'll be watching for an update.

I had no idea it could be that bad! Wow! I did know that human bite wounds are terrible though, so it makes sense.

Yep, I'm continuing to pray as well. Patty, if you see this but are too tired to post, feel free to call me. I don't care what time either.:thumbup:

I just got home from the hospital and have Barbi's girls with me. The dr. here is just as worried as the dr. in Austin. They have her another round of IV antibiotics in the ER and admitted her into the hospital. We waited FOREVER for the dr. to come in. He is very, very concerned...and wanted us all to know it. They have her on IV antibiotics every 8 hours and morphine for the pain. She is to have an xray tonight and an MRI tomorrow. He is worried that it may have traveled into her bones since one of the bites was in her joint. We had NOT idea that cat bites were so bad. Animal control and the sherriff have been called in. Please keep praying for my daughter. Thanks, Patty

oh no! That sounds bad. :( She will continue to be in my prayers!

Most people have no idea how bad small animal bites can be. Even bites from healthy indoor animals can be bad.
