You are all in my thoughts and prayers . |
prepare for my long and sad story: first and foremost prayers wll be sent to you and your sister. the power of prayer is incredible. i am 20 years old, my brother is 23. when he was 16; he broke his ankle riding dirtbikes, after being rushed to the hospital, the doctors informed my parents that his platelet count was extremelly low. After awhile, he was diagnosed with a RARE blood condition called fanconi anemia. Basically, a child who is born with the disease will not live into adulthood. A few years have passed, after making yearly biopsies to check on my brothers condition, last year -- it came back negative. His cells were pre leukemic. (sorry, i can't spell. :p) he immediately had to go into a bone marrow transplant. So they packed my mom and my brother up and moved them up north to minnesota. I was forced to live here in louisiana by myself for almost a year. thank god for family. Well, the first transplant never worked - so he was forced to gointo number 2, i will spre you the details but one night my mother tells me that justin was rushed to the E.R with possible heart failure. of course, the doctors got it wrong; but my brother has no immune system due to the BMT, so apparently a fungus that we breath on a daily basis was deadly to him. he was forced to be intubated and put on breathing machines for weeks on end. it was THE HARDEST thing to see. but i knew it was for the best. 10 months later, he is home. through many, MANY prayers from people all over the world. spread the word, so people can pray. caringbridge has a great program for blogging and keeping us updated on your journey. the doctors and nurses never fail to tell my mom that my brother is a miracle. my mom never gave up faith or stopped believing, and we know that prayers are what got him through this. :) |
