| My friend just got a hedgehog!!! SOOO CUTE My friend just bought a hedgehog. It is adorable. I even saw it curl up in to a little spiky ball. They live 10-15 years and eat cat or dog food. Who'd thought? I want one now. But she bought hers on her vacation in nebraska so I dont knwo where I would find one. I was looking at getting a sugar glider(flying squirrel) awhile ago but I am not sure how my dogs would take it. My friend has a yorkie, rat terrier, and boston terrier so I will see how this new hedgehog thing works out. Anyone else have an unusual pet?

I wouldn't call him a "pet" necessarily but that huge groundhog is a "regular guest" in our back yard. Actually, I'm pretty sure he's taken up residence in our back yard brushpile. When I was a kid, I lived in the city but had a chicken as a pet. Andy, our chicken, slept outside in a little pen. He was a like a little dog! He'd chase us around the yard and play and play!!! We loved our chicken Andy......Until some horrible creature ate him and I found him dead one morning. I went to the city school that day (5th grade) crying my eyes out. The teacher asked what happened and I told her in front of the class that my pet had died. She said she was sorry and asked what kind of pet was it? When I said "a chicken" the whole class laughed at me! And then I cried even harder b/c noone understood how much I loved that chicken. I'm scarred for life.

| I had a ferret once. But it bit me in the hands when I lifted it and my heels when I walked, so I gave it up to nature. I guess wild animals belong in the wild and not as pets to humor humans...

| I had a duck when I was a baby. I want another one. If it were not for my husband always tellign me no, I would have a whole zoo . I already have 3 aquariums and 3 dogs. I tried the bird thing. I had a budgirigar but penny(my boxer) gave it a heartattack by acidently scaring it. I felt so bad. But I really want a turtle and now a hedgehog. Actually I just remembered me andmy husbands first pet together was an iguana named iggy. That sucker was mean and would whip us with is tail. We had to give him away. We were both way to scared of him to clean out his cage weekly He would always try to snap at us. We also used to have lionfish which are very poisonous! Those were our favorite saltwater fish to have.
