I wouldn't call him a "pet" necessarily but that huge groundhog is a "regular guest" in our back yard. Actually, I'm pretty sure he's taken up residence in our back yard brushpile.
When I was a kid, I lived in the city but had a chicken as a pet. Andy, our chicken, slept outside in a little pen. He was a like a little dog! He'd chase us around the yard and play and play!!!
We loved our chicken Andy......Until some horrible creature ate him and I found him dead one morning. I went to the city school that day (5th grade) crying my eyes out. The teacher asked what happened and I told her in front of the class that my pet had died. She said she was sorry and asked what kind of pet was it? When I said "a chicken" the whole class laughed at me! And then I cried even harder b/c noone understood how much I loved that chicken.
I'm scarred for life.
