What do you eat that makes others go "eee-ew!!"
 
There are so many things that I will not eat. Doesn't matter how hungry I am, either. Starving is preferrable to eating some things. I will not eat fat or chicken skin.

However, being from the deep south, I LOVE grits. NOT eaten the 'yankee' way with sugar and milk. I would throw that in the trash. :D Salt and butter only for me. Some folks don't care for it (like my two grandsons) and some love it with me (like my granddaughter).

I also LOVE boiled peanuts and others won't even try them. But if they did.....they would love them!

So what do you eat that disgusts other people? Got any weird tastes?

My son-in-law eats something called scrapple, which I had never heard of until one of my Jersey trips. UGH!!

My grandfather like scrapple, I have no idea whats in it. He also likes limberger cheese, he has no taste, or smell aparently :D

I love stewed gizzards over rice. Most people just go eww.

I have had oyster stew since I was a kid, hubby won't go near it.

Hubby won't touch liver, and I agree with him. We also hate brussel sprouts.

Scrapple is typically made of hog offal, such as the head, heart, liver, and other scraps, which are boiled with any bones attached (often the entire head), to make a broth. Oh you are my kind of girl!:) I looove grits! I grew up eating them like you with salt and lots of butter. Also sometimes with a fried egg. We also did cheese grits and now as an adult I love them as a dinner side dish with lots of garlic and cheese! I think it's funny that so many non-southerners think grits are gross but will eat polenta- it's ALMOST the same thing! Why is one chic and the other is icky?

Hmmmm ever heard of century egg, sambal belacan, bak kut teh or durian, the king of fruit? I love all of those and they are food that a lot of people will stay away from!!! Hubby is scared to death of all of those! hhahhaa

Century egg is a Chinese cuisine ingredient made by preserving duck, chicken or quail eggs in mixture of clay, ash, salt, lime, and rice straw for several weeks to several months. After the process is completed, the yolk becomes a dark green, cream-like substance with a strong odor of sulfur and ammonia, while the white becomes a dark brown, transparent jelly with little flavor or taste. The transforming agent in century egg is its alkaline material, which gradually raises the pH of egg from around 9 to 12 or more.

LOL, I have to admit that sounds dreadful to me but I totally understand cultural differences. Recently while making deviled eggs I said to my husband, can you imagine if we did not grow up loving these and someone said, boil an egg, mix the yolk with mayonnaise (which I despise), mustard and pickle relish and stuff it back into the white. It really sounds disgusting if you think about it but it is soooo yummy!

I can handle the sambal belacan. I adore spicy hot (really hot) food. I would have to pass on the bak kut teh because I will not eat anything with offal or tofu. As for the century egg, if this were a gross out contest, you would be the winner, hands down! :D

So as it now stands, you are way far ahead. I doubt anyone will be able to top that one. :p Let's just wait and see. You now hold the "Master of EEEe-ew" throne. :D

The only thing I can really think of is that I eat grilled cheese with ketchup. :p

Durian...I forgot to say that I have heard of this fruit. I was watching a show on exotic foods and this one was on there. They said it is forbidden for it to be in the hotels and certain other public areas because of the odor from it.

When I was a child and it was slaughter time, I would come home to a place that 'reeked' of the chitlin' cooking process. It made me gag. There was no respite anywhere else either. Every relative was cooking the same thing. I would just stay outside for as long as possible.

My mom at lots of 'weird' stuff like that. Including, but not limited to, pickled pigs feet. Oooooohhhh my gosh!! I couldn't be around to eve see that!

Ewww you're nasty!:p I'm so kidding! My stepdad eats peanut butter and ketchup sandwiches- that's nasty!

For the most part I am a very picky eater but when I put ketchup in my yellow rice a lot of people near me will go ewwww~ I dont care...I love it!

WELL THEN....go eat something weird and come back and post about it. :p

That one just doesn't qualify for making someone go eeeeee-ew. I know of kids that must put ketchup on everything they eat.

It makes it even funnier once you know him. He's retired but has his MBA from Harvard, was the CEO of a major tobacco company, lived his adult life in NYC in fabulous co-ops, very handsome and is very quiet and proper. I've googled him and even I get impressed- THIS is the man eating peanut butter and ketchup!:p
