thanks:) |
Those are all cute pictures! Who would have thought there would be so many saltwater enthusiasts on YT?? Our eel pulled the same stunt of jumping out of the tank, but we were quick with the tongs and then a bunch of gutter guard on our tank so he couldn't do it again. That was not fun. I hate the look of fish out of water. I can't imagine seeing a fish that had tossed itself out and mangled itself. Blech! I have never been snorkeling before but I am considering getting a scuba certification just for that reason. Aquariums and reefs are SO much more interesting to me now that I know more science about the whole thing. Too cool. |

If you are real surfers at heart, which you seem to be, I can see why he would love Folly. The whole city/island is so calm/cool/relaxed/surfer mentality! I love it there :) The neighboring beach is Isle of Palms (also known for surfing), but the people who live there are all wealthy and THEY KNOW IT!...act like snots But anyway...every day on Folly there's surfers, and I personally just love to watch! Hope to see you down here sometime in the future ;) |

All this has been going on without me! 2 Attachment(s) LOL! Isn't it funny how huge YT is and big threads can go on for weeks before you know they're here! Anyway, here's a bit about me. I have not yet sent Lisa anything secret about me. I can't think of anything. I thought of something, but I don't know if it counts. Anyway, parts of this are copied from another similar thread... I am 38 years old. I have been married for 17 years. I have two teenage boys: Joshua, 15 and David, 13. My oldest son has Asperger's Syndrome, which is on the autistic spectrum, but it is quite different from what most people think of when they think of autism. I live in southern California, but I lived in Jackson, MS for a short while when I was a teenager, as my mother's family is from there, so I have a deep connection to the south. I do not work out of the home, but I am always busy, either with my kids, a project, or other things. I am one of those types of people that will make or do anything myself. Sometimes, it is to save money (since if something I want costs too much, I'd rather find a way to do it myself rather than go without) sometimes it is just because I want to see if I can do it. Hence, I have sewn my entire bedroom, re-upholstered my dining room chairs, put up wainscotting in our entry, living room, dining room, and hallAttachment 223517 . I've even installed the automatic sprinkler system in my backyard. In the past, I have refinished furniture, and I recently re-did our cheapo mdf cabinets to look like dark stained wood. I've also played with making other things, such as: homemade soap (which was a home-based business back in the late 1990's), cheese, malt, yogurt, sourdough starter (the wild yeast in Ontario, CA is not good for making bread, btw:thumbdown). Speaking of home-based businesses...I have (unsuccessfully ) run three. The first one was as a Medela rental station. I rented and sold hospital-grade breastpumps to nursing mommies. The second one was a hand-made soap company. And the third, most recently was DoggyStyle by Misty--the dog dresses that I made last year. I got terribly burnt out on sewing, and so I put it all away and haven't dragged it out since. I recently returned to school after a long hiatus and earned my Bachelors degree in English Literature in 2006. I graduated with highest honors, departmental honors, a member of 3 honor societies, and I was nominated by the English department for most outstanding student (though I didn't win that one, it was an honor to be nominated.) Attachment 223516 One of my hobbies is couponing. Yes, I am one of those that can go into a store and buy $120 worth of groceries for less than $5. My goal this year was to completely eliminate our credit card debt by saving extra money on groceries. The goal was to have it done by the end of the year, but as of the end of May, I succeeded. My biggest project is me, and I consider myself to be a work-in-progress. After suffering for several years with chronic back pain, I have finally made the move to get better. Since the first of the year, I have lost nearly 20 pounds (still have a long way to go!) I went through physical therapy, and I have joined a gym, where I work out with a personal trainer two days a week on strengthening my core so that my back will stop hurting one day. That's me. :) |
Misty...you are amazing!! Your house projects sound and LOOK wonderful!! And going back and getting your degree with honors...very cool!! |
Misty you are awesome but then I already knew that. I cannot wait to meet you in person. |
Hi all - I know not everyone attending has posted on this thread yet, but most of you know I am a yoga & pilates instructor. Would anyone be interested in doing a little yoga on Saturday morning before breakfast? I would be happy to lead a class somewhere.............. |

I feel so bad that it took me this long to read this thread! I would wait until it was 8 pages long so that it would take me 45 minutes to read everything LOL. Well....in exactly 7 days and 2 hours, I will be leaving for Kansas City!!! Yes, Cynthia (crb), Gayla (layla's mom) and I are leaving at 1:00am and driving through the night to get to Kansas City early Friday afternoon! Gayla and I are night people anyway, and I think Cynthia is learning to be a night person with all the sewing she's been doing at night lately! So...I'm Michele, I'm 23 and I live in College Station, TX. I have 2 yorkies (Lacy and Rylie) and 2 Persian Cats (Sophie & Kira). I am originally from a very small town close to Texarkana, TX. All of my family still lives in that area (which is 5 hours away from where I am now) so I don't see them too often. I usually go home for Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving and then normally a couple other times during the year for a visit. I have one sister who will be 21 next month. An interesting fact since there aren't many of them anymore....my family owned a Piggly Wiggly Grocery store for many years (my great grandfather on my Dad's side brought it to town)...but they sold the store to another chain of grocery stores when I was 13...my family has owned a lot of interesting businesses. I took a lot of dance classes from the time I was 2 years old until I graduated high school. My strongest area was tap dancing, but I loved it all, especially ballet (even though ballet was not my strongest point). I did a lot of dance competitions and pageants growing up as well. One of the pageant systems I competed in has their state pageant the weekend will be in KC...I still go and watch every year (and judged last year)...so this will be the first year I've missed since the last year I won the TX state pageant...but of course YT is worth it ;) I was an overachiever in high school...LOL...was a member of every club out there and took all the honor classes/AP classes/Dual credit classes that I could. When I went to college, I decided really fast that I was tired of being an over achiever! I worked for the small animal veterinarian in my town for the 4 years I was in high school....I've known I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 8 years old. My family had a lot of pets growing up...but unfortunately I have to say my family were not good pet owners and it seems like our pets didn't last long :( It definitely taught me how NOT to be a pet owner now that I have my own pets and make the decisions on caring for them. But I've always loved animals and always wanted to have pets... My family actually got the first yorkie in my life when I was three years old. They asked me what I wanted to name him, and I said "Zachary Hula" :p They thought I'd change my mind the next day (I was three..) but I didn't so Zachary Hula was his name (where I got the Hula I have no clue ). We lived in a neighborhood and this was in the 80's and he would go outside and go say hello to our neighbors. He got into some rat poison outside and died :( I'm not sure if it's because I had a yorkie at such a young age or what, but yorkies have always been my favorite breed of dog. There is just something about them! I asked for a yorkie for years growing up, but my parents didn't want any inside animals so no yorkie for me. I've actually always been more of a cat person until I got Lacy (and I'd still say I'm a big cat person). I finally convinced my Dad to let me get a Himalayan (Persian) cat when I was 14...her name is Kira and she's a seal point Himalayan. She is 8 1/2 now. She stayed with my parents the first year I was in college since I lived in a dorm but then she moved down here to College Station with me. One of my Best Friends bought Lacy for me as a Christmas present my sophomore year in College...the best gift I've ever been given! Lacy is 3 1/2 now. I then got Sophie, my Chocolate Point Himalayan (Persian), a year ago in April....she's 1 1/2 now and she is the sweetest cat! Rylie...he was bought for my sister at the same time I was given Lacy but she's never really cared for him so my parents had the responsibility of him. In October last year my parents went on a long trip and left him with me and I've had him ever since...he's 3 1/2 now too (he's 6 weeks younger than Lacy). So there are my babies....Lacy, Rylie, Kira, and Sophie! So...moved to College Station in 2003 to go to College at Texas A&M University..majored in Biomedical Science. Graduated in 3 1/2 years in December of 2006. I started Veterinary School last September! In between the time I graduated from college and started vet school I worked for a dog boutique and grooming salon here...I was in charge of the boutique. I'm so glad it's summer and I have some time off from school for a while!! I just started a new job on Monday. We've been training all week, and I think I'm going to enjoy it. I'll be working full time so you'll be getting a break from me on YT during the week :p So far as being a vet...I know I want to be a small animal veterinarian. And I may want to eventually be a board certified specialist such as a cardiologist...but we'll see. Hobbies...I like to do crafty things. I have sewn dog dresses before, but I'd rather buy them  I've been making a lot of bows lately and really enjoy it. I like to make the fleece tie blankets, and I used to love to scrapbook when I had more time and extra money laying around (scrapbooking is expensive! or at least the way I do it is anyway LOL). I LOvE to shop for dog clothing...I'm always surfing the online stores and hunting down dog boutiques when I go somewhere. Lacy has a huge wardrobe, and Rylie is slowly building his. I get a huge thrill out of dressing up my dogs and admiring them everyday LOL. My dogs are pretty much my life...I enjoy being with them. I love having yorkie meetups, and basically yorkie anything. I also love to attend dog shows when I can and *might* be interested in showing yorkies YEARS down the road. I enjoy learning as much as I can about it all for now. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family. I love to go out to eat, watch movies, play games, etc. I watch way too much TV... I LOVE to eat. I just love food...my family's hobby is going out to eat and cooking so I just grew up loving food (luckily I have a high metabolism..). I have a huge sweet tooth...love candy, sweets and chocolate. I haven't read much in a couple years but I do enjoy reading a good book...I just read a really good one a couple weeks ago so I'm going to be in search of some new ones soon. Oh, I like being lazy and napping too. I could lay in bed and sleep all day LOL. I also love to travel and hope to travel a lot more later in life. I really enjoy weekend trips, but gas prices have definitely hurt the ability to just do that.. and..I spend too much time online LOL Okay...so there's a book on me..maybe I'll add more later as I think about it  |
ohh...I thought about starting a very small salt water tank here but luckily got discouraged to do it... i say luckily because I don't think I'd have time for it and I think my fish would die.. I'd LOVE to have a huge salt water tank though one day, but I want someone to take care of it for me. I just want to admire it. I think the "coolest" pets I've had were two red-eyed tree frogs. They are so colorful. They eventually died though. I had them in high school. Oh, I will most likely have a couple drinks too! |
