no I don't...We did a little introduction with ME holding the girls & I let them sniff faces but I had a VERY tight grip and was watching him intently -

Chanel did step inside his door one time and barked at him - he hid behind his daddy

she's SO bad

I had her on a very short leash right next to me - and that was the only time I let her put her feet in their doorway -

LOL Vee, all the comments here would make me nervous. Do what Cesar Millan would do. OWN the apartment!! Be calm and assertive. You'll do great... Not all pits are untrustworthy. Don't let him drag you all over the apartments. I can just picture that!!! Watch out for your bad shoulder!!!

ok. here's my problem.

WHAT DO I do when I walk into their apartment when his owner isn't home -

So...Do I carry a HUGE TREAT ?
Do I carry TEN Huge Treats and hope he is so grateful he won't eat me ?

do I carry nothing ? Do I just walk in like I own the place ?

He knows me... but he also knows I have 2 tasty little morsels that bark at him like little demons - so I'm kind of worried --- I don't want him getting all protective of his turf

any advise ? oh and ps - my girls will NOT be included on my little weekend job. They'll be pouting safely from behind their OWN door.

I think you need to ask the owners what to do. They would know how their dog reacts and such and practice going in there before they leave.

I agree - but like all dog people - they always tell me how GENTLE he is. It doesn't change the fact that he's a pitt bull and a VERY LARGE one. Nothing against him - I like the dog - but without them there... I do have concerns.

and my plan is to walk in like I LIVE there - talk to him ....and pray he'll remember me as the nice lady that gives him cool toys & treats (I already gave him a few when we met) I'm hoping he remembers the bribes......

UPDATE - as I posted this my neighbor was on his back patio where I had left a few toys - and the mom is picking up Stink for the weekend so I'm OFF THE HOOK ~!

LOL no problem !! I have friends telling me I need to walk the girls with pepper spray - my problem is - IF I'm holding my 2 girls under my chin - how in the world would I ever spray it if if needed ? I don't plan to do this - but....if I see more dogs off leash at my apartment I may be forced to for their safety

Our mailman at work said in many cases (they have to carry it) - the pepper spray ends up in the sprayers eyes - whether from wind or bad aim - I'm really crazy about the idea.
