Mine is from The West.

I guess it makes sense since I was born in California but have lived in WA state for the last 20 years.

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
I'm a Midland too but I live in Illinois!

Mine was the Northeast... correct!! I was born and raised in New York... I have the typical Brooklyn/Queens accent....haven't lost my accent at all living in Missouri for 10 years...:D

Mine is midland or no accent. Close second was southern. I'm a Florida girl so that's pretty accurate. I was born and raised in north FL which is pretty dang southern but lived my adult life mostly in south FL where there is no accent.

Mine was the no accent one, but I know for a fact I have a southern accent...after living 4 years in the Pacifice NW and every person that I met asked me if I was from Georgia:rolleyes:
I'm back in Texas now, and no one comments on my accent, so I know I fit right back in!!!

What I want to know is what place in the country thinks the words "bag" and "vague" sound the same:confused::confused:

Also, does anyone else have troubles with the word "pipe"? I don't use that word too much, but whenever I do, I have to spell it before people know what I am asking for.

How do you say pipe? I have a few words that tend to come out wrong. I was well into my 20's before I could say 'brown'- it came out brayoun:rolleyes:. I have a few other give aways (well and shrimp are my downfalls:p).

well, (2 syllable word) I thought I said "pipe" just like it is with the long "i"...maybe my "i" is really, really long.:p
I also say the word "popeye" (like Popeye's chicken) like "piepie", so my husband says.:rolleyes:

do you call shrimp "skrimps"? LOL i've heard people down south say that and i find it hilarious. not making fun, i just find it interesting how our accents and slang are so different. I can't even think what "yinz" sounds like in a sentence. when i say it it doesn't make sense.

I have a MIDLAND accent... so, no accent.... pretty good for a mexican, isn't it??? Or does it means nobody understands me??:confused::eek::D;)
