I'm disgusted every time I buy groceries. If I were raising my children now, I don't see how I could do it.

The farmers here set up a small market twice a week during the season, and I'm looking forward to it this year. I plan to make a stop by there during lunch at least once a week.

My oldest son is a hunter and he's really lucky that he was able to have 3 deer processed this year. He and my DIL love it and cook it all the time.

I agree! It's hitting everyone so hard. This is not the time they shoud be raising prices, families are having trouble as is. The economy stinks! They have to do something, and their solutions aren't going to fix it. For mortgages they just aren't loaning money, even to those qualified. If I hear if you guys came in three months ago you wouldn't have a problem. I'm sick of paying for mistakes others made.

So many businesses in my small town are closing. It's really sad. I thank God everyday that we have food in our refrigerator and shelter over our heads. I just can't imagine what it would be like in a third world country. I just don't ever remember our economy being this bad, I know it has, but now that I'm in my adult years I realize what my parents told me for years and years. Enjoy your childhood. Being and adult can be so stressful! Sorry for my whole mess of thoughts. LOL

Let me add insult to injury: Approx. 1/2 of working Americans are paying the taxes that support our country.

IF you shop at Walmart and your local stores put out ads Walmart will ad match as long as it is a specific price. We don't honor like BOGO or % off. Now our store if we can get a specific price on the BOGO we will do them but most of the time it is higher or the same as ours. All you have to do is bring the current ad and let your cashier know before she scans it. There is no limit to how many you can buy or how many different items you can get. I know we are not the most like company in the world but in my town we are generally the cheapest. right now we are comping alot of milk with CVS

Ugghh...I am so frustrated. Single mom w/ a 14 yr old boy!
He can drink a gallon of milk and a carton of orange juice in just a couple days! It sucks! You know how teenage boys can eat.
The price of everything just keeps going up and up, when does it stop???????

I seriously would even walk to work, but it is too far and not an option.

Wish we still had one. They pulled out of my town like 5 or 6 years ago it may have even been longer. No explanation just said they were closing the store expected us to drive 45 mins to the next town. This was way before the Supercenter opened. We do still have a Savealot and a Buylows(which is funny they are called buylows when they are higher than Walmart

) Sometimes the deals are better at Savealot but not on everything. So you have to pay attention. The only good thing is that you don't use any more gas since SAL is on the way to Walmart

When I visited Lorraine in BC, Canada last year, I was floored at the price of produce, milk and eggs...well, the USA had caught up!!!!!

They do say that the middle class is being wiped out... there will be (as someone else here put it) those who have and those who have not.

Gas here is now OVER $3.50 a gallon. I never really paid that much attention to the price of food, but I do see my overall bill going up up up. What used to be around $70 is now about $200. I am also one who shops fresh and does not buy snacks at home, but Ive switched from fresh veggies to frozen veggies. Ive stopped eating a lot of meat and eating more rice or potatoes to fill up. I just feel sooooo bad for people with kids. Its got to be so hard. Ive already decided that I won't run the AC in the house or car to save on gas and the electric bill. Ive stopped buying bottled water and other 'luxury' items. My condo fees just keep going up. Im almost at a breaking point here financially!

I guess I know what my parents went through in the 80s recession with 3 kids! UGH!

Everything is high. I go through 2 gallons of milk a week ( 6 girls). We do save some money because I have chickens and do not have to buy eggs. I sell the extra eggs and that money goes back to the chickens for feed. I am really thinking about getting a cow but with the price of feed going up I am not sure that would be better either. We did plant a big garden this year hopefully that will help also.
