| My Daughters a brunette and we just put caramel highlights in her hair and it looks really good. She is only 7. Her Dad and I did it ourselves at home. I would do highlights rather than dying all your hair. I dye mine blonde and its a pain to keep up with

| Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | I like it darker - looks more natural for you. Maybe get some red highlights to just brighten it up a bit?

| I would do highlights just ear to ear, pick a shade for the first time that you do between 2-3 levels of your natural see how you like that & then you can always go back in june/july & go a little more & a little lighter if you want too or if not that would be the easiest way to grow back in! |

| The dark is very pretty. If you have highlights, you won't be able to see the new hair coming in as much. I like the dark red look that I see sometimes. You'res will turn out great I'm sure, we'd love to see pics after. |

| You are beautiful! I actually really like your natural color! Try something subtle at first like golden highlights or something. Just be careful! My natural hair color is pretty close to your color. I was highlighting my hair with blonde since I was about 16 and now 7 years later I am trying to get back to my natural hair color after all this time. Totally figures. Haven't colored it in about a year and a half now.

Now with that being said, this is JMHO. Since you've never colored your hair before, I wouldn't do anything drastic. I would gradually do a caramel highlight, or maybe even a red highlight (but not a bright red) more of a burgundy or a cinnamon highlight. You want to try to stay with warm colors that will mesh with your natural hair color. Also when you go to get it done, have them to foil your hair. It's healthier to do it that way, than to pull through a cap. Plus it don't hurt either! That is if you do highlights. Now if you want to do all over color, you can go a up to (possibly a light brown)medium light brown to a light black, or you can even do a dark auburn red to maybe a dark cinnamon or a dark burgundy color. I wouldn't try a blonde color not with your skin tone. If you do an all over color have them to paint it on not the dump method. But like I said this is JMHO. Good luck in whatever you decide!

| Also keep in mind that you have dark eyebrows (like I do) so you really can't go too blonde without looking completely oddly fake.

| Just make sure the low lights aren't too dark because then they will match your hair too much and won't stand out. I'd go for a honey/caramel color because I think it will really stand out against your base color.
