My dad & step-mom have them. I do think they take a little longer...but IMO they clean better than regular washers. My dad's greasy work clothes (he's a mechanic) get clean as new in one regular wash cycle ?? Oh, BTW, they are about 3-year-old Neptunes as well...

| I've been wanting a set of those for a couple of years now. When we were at Home Depot Saturday they had those in black, red or turquoise. Just beautiful! I have a 6year old maytag washer and a 6 year old Kenmore dryer, so it looks like it's going to be many more years before they are goners. |

| I'm on my second front loader. The first was a Frigidaire which only lasted a few years and now I have a Whirlpool. I do like it because of the amount of clothes that can fit into one load. I've never noticed a moldy smell but I do dry out the outer rubber lip everytime I'm done. My only suggestion would be to get the stand. Where mine is located I cannot raise it so I have to literally get on my knees to unload it. Good Luck.....hope you enjoy it! |

| I have a maytag front loader, wonderful...gets the pee pads spotless...where the top loader I had to use bleach and wash them twice... I love it!

We had a new top loader Kitchen-Aide top of the line, turned out to be a real lemon, during its warranty had many repairs done, finally being so discouraged with it, pushed it aside and junked it. This machine didn't have that much use and the store wouldn't take it back. I had to buy a replacement, right away it started leaking and the repair technician had to replace the transmission with a new one the very next day it did the same thing leaking (the technician said that there was a problem with the transmissions and that it is an on going problem with many of the newer top loaders) luckily we was able to get our money refunded on this machine. A month ago we purchased the front loader (4.0 cu.ct. 10-cycle) larger model washer of the whirlpool duet and absolutely love it, I use far less detergent (HE brand, this is very important, we also was told that if we used other detergents it could and most likely would void the warranty) noticed on our recent water bill being much lower, being on propane am sure we will notice a difference on that bill too even Jack commented how much whiter our whites are. I will eventually get the drier to match after we get moved.I will say, I did just take out the extended warranty yesterday before my 30 days was up to get it, only because of my past experience with the Kichen Aide and also the Sears Kenmore that were lemons Sadly to say things just aren't made like they use to be. Years past I wouldn't spend the extra money on extended warranties but not today, for us they are a must. Good luck on your choice of machines. | The GE front loaders are awesome! My whites are whiter and I can wash AND dry a ton of denim at once! It seems like almost every type of laundry detergent has a 2x concentrated for front loaders so I'm sure you can stick with your fave. I really like mine. I also don't notice a difference in wash times unles I add an extra rince cycle to my load. And the steam option works so nice for monday mornings (or any morning) you dont want to iron!

I do try to wipe out the front rubber seal with a towel every once in a while and I leave the door cracked open when I'm not using it. The only thing I don't like is that you have to buy he detergent and there's not a big supply of those kind. Otherwise, I think loads wash and dry faster and there is less laundry to do because I can wash bigger loads. I also love the delay timer on mine. I can put a load in before I go to bed, delay it 7 or 8 hours and put the load in the dryer before I get in the shower. It only takes 30 min to dry a load. I can have it put away before I even start my day! | |

| I have the LG front loading washer and dryer for 4 yrs. now.. The moldy smell comes from the rubber seal that incases the front opening. You have to get in there every couple of weeks and clean the inside of the rubber liner. Water gets trapped in there. I use the sanitary cylce with some bleach and detergent and an old towel. This does the trick. Love it. |

| Man - I have opened a can of worms - between reading all your wonderful responses and going online to read reviews - I am so torn.... What's this HE detergent? hmmm...I am not liking the sound of that I use ONLY detergent that is Free of Dies and Fragrance, etc... I like the LG b/c isn't red, I have read both good and bad. The Whirlpool duets are nice too, but that HE thing doesn't sound friendly. My brain is foggy |

| I have the LG w/d MILDEW smell here too!!! I HATE IT. Home Depot carries a product (right there with the front loaders) called Ahhhhh Fresh!! They work at getting the mildew smell out. If I had to do over again, I would get the new w/d with no aggetator (sp?) I dont care for my front loaders AT ALL...

| I've had the Kenmore front loader for a couple years and very happy with it. We use the Tide HE (High Efficiency) detergent which is much less suds. The washer cleans much better than a top load washer and is much easier on clothes. We had a Kenmore top loader without agitator about a week, I didn't like it at all and replaced it with the front loader. |
