| TCA facial peels... Has anyone ever done one? I am so fed up of my skin and have been looking into the do it yourself TCA peels (you can buy them online) but I am a bit hesitant as I would hate for something to go wrong and ruin my skin I did a few glycolic (sp?) peels last year, but they really did nothing and i was sooo disappointed |

| Have you tried them yet? I'm curious to hear how they work.

| i don't know anything about the TCA peels, but I've had a laser smooth peel. They do them at the office where I work, so I got to have it done. I noticed a big difference right after I peeled. Not sure that I would pay for one, but I'd have another one cause they're free!! Maybe after 2 or 3 there would be a bigger difference.

| When are you going to try it? I'm afraid to go to the office looking like I was too stupid to use sun screen but I'm planning to try it. I've been reading up on it and yes you can by it on the internet. Spas and salons ofter this service but I don't know the cost.

| I hate to be a party pooper but I wouldn't mess with a TCA peel at home. I'm an esthetician and I wouldn't even do one on myself unless I had been trained in the line. They can really vary in ph and you can cause permanent damage like hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. The hypo is white spots and you'd be stuck with them forever. I took a 2 day course to learn the peels I use- it's pretty involved. Edit to add- I don't know how it is in England but in the US there is NO reputable company that will sell peels to an unlicensed person. If they are willing to, you're probably getting an inferior product. In many places it's even illegal. For example in FL as a licnesed esthetician I can't perform TCA peels unless I work under a doctor's insurance.

| TCA is trichloracetic acid. It's a great peel for sundamaged skin but as I said it's usually performed in a dr.s office.

| Thanks everyone for your replies. Nikki+2 i will be taking your advice and will try and find a clinic somewhere in the UK where i can get it done. Is this the most appropriate peel for mild acne scarring? or would something else be better? Paulapoo ~ thanks so much for posting the picture, did it hurt? |
