Ugh, Rusty's in an e-collar 1 Attachment(s) Well, Mr. Rusty decided to gnaw a big red spot on his tail yesterday. Turns out his anal glands were infected. So today's he's in an e-collar. I've never had to deal with one of those on a dog before, but I have new sympathy for all who have. Ain't he pathetic? LOL. |
Awww, poor dude:( I hope his hiney is better soon! |
Poor Rusty, he doesn't look too happy:( . Hope that he feels better soon. |
Awwwwww, poor punkin!!!!!!! That just is plain sucky! Did they say why? What is he eating? Jack must be in HOG HEAVEN over this one. |
Awww, poor Rusty! My Shih Tzu has to have her anal glands "expressed" twice a year, minimum. I wonder why my Yorkie mix doesn't need that done? I guess it just depends on the dog. My parents had a cat that had to wear one of those collars to stop chewing itself. Man, was it a pain! The cat actually lost it somewhere, probably got hooked up on a fence and pulled it of (probably on purpose. LOL!!) |
Awwwww, he looks none too happy. Poor Rusty.... Feel better soon little guy .... |
Awww poor baby, I hope he is feeling better soon. |
poor lil guy :(, hope he feels better soon!! |
Ouch. Hope he feels better soon! |
Awe, poor Rusty! I am sure he'll be out of it in no time. It is really hard to have to put them in these!! But it will keep him from licking at his raw spot. I'm sure daddy will be giving him lots of extra treats and attention to make up for the lampshade fashion :) |
Hey Rusty, this is Simon and I had a cone-head too! You can get lots of extra treats and lots of sympathy from your daddy. Especially if you bang into the walls and clink around :) Rusty, get well soon buddy~ |
Aww, how sad. Poor Rusty! :( |
Poor Rusty that has to be a pain. Jack and Eddie get all the glory Rusty gets to be a cone head. |
Oh poor baby! Wait until MeganS finds out ... |
Awww Poor Rusty... I hope you feel better soon! |
 He didn't show any previous signs of dragging his butt on the floor? |

The good news is 90 percent of the bloodwork is back, and all is well. The thyroid test, one of the big things he's worried about, won't be back until tomorrow. Otherwise, all seems to be well. I checked on him during dinner break, and he was fine. I took it off for a walk, and he didn't even try to chew. I think he's starting to feel better. |

I thought I was going to have a problem with Jack. He and Rusty are buddies, and he went to investigate the wound on his tail right away. But a couple firm "uh uh's" got him to stay away from it. I hope. |
ahhh poor Rusty! He wore one of those things years ago when he got hit by a car and dislocated his hip. It lasted about 2 days, and then Kenny couldn't take how pathetic he was and took it off of him. He's never had that anal gland problem before....must be all that moose he's eating in AK!! You are a good doggie daddy Mike! |
awww....poor thing! |

And Eddie is thinking Holy Cow! Like he didn't bowl me over before. Now he has a scooper to pick me up and eat me! |

Rusty is actually doing fantastic with the e-collar. The first thing the vet tech told me was "He's very good at taking if off," but he's only knocked it off once and that's when I was home. And he's not chewing when I take it off, so we get do do our walks without it. That's interesting that he's never had the problem before. Even this time, it seemed to come on suddenly. I saw next to no symptoms. I'll have to ask the vet what could have brought it on so suddenly. He was sick and on antibiotics a couple weeks earlier. Who knows? Haven't heard back from the vet yet on the last test. Cross your fingers. |
