Mostly good news. The last of the bloodwork came back, and all is well there. The bad news is he doesn't know what caused the problem in the first place, so he has nothing to treat other than the infection. Who knows? He had just gotten over a loose stool problem and had been on antibiotics, so maybe that caused it. So I'm just going to keep an eye on him and make sure the irritation doesn't return. The vet wants a recheck in a month or two. He's doing well around the house in the e-collar and doesn't chew when I take it off, so I'm optimistic we'll be through with that in a week or so. Thanks for the good wishes. |
Aw poor baby! |
Sure hope Rusty's bum heals quickly! |
Awww i think he looks so cute! |
awww look at poor Rusty in that cone. sometimes dogs just get hot spots. one little thing can bother them so they scratch at it. then the area gets irritated so they scratch some more, then start biting and licking or scooting. pretty soon you have yourself a red bald spot that may or may not open up. did the vet give you animax or panalog to put on it? |

I'm glad that Rusty is doing well with the lampshade, and that Jack and Eddie aren't overly freaked out about it. I thought it'd bother them, so its good that its not too bad for them. That's really weird that it came on so suddenly. Maybe it was from the antibiotics. Who knows? :) Feel better Rusty! |

OMG I just saw your avatar on another post and my heart sank when I saw Rusty, so I had to go back and search your threads to see what happened. I must admit, my first thought was, "What the heck did Mike do now?" :) I'm so glad everyone is O.K. Kathy |

Thanks. He's doing better. |
Aw poor guy. I've had dog in the past that wore those lamp shades and bumped into everything. There is a better one called Pro-Collar which is so much more comfortable for them. http://www.jbpet.com/index.php?main_...oducts_id=2756 Did the Vet. show you how to express those glands? That's fun too! |
Awww poor guy! |

Poor Poor Rusty!!! I hope he gets well soon! I've never had a dog that had to have his anal glands expressed:eek: Let alone, infected!! The poor thing! I know when Mojo was very sick for about a week, his little behind was very raw and they told me I could use Destin? ---the baby diaper rash stuff. They wanted to put one of those cones on my Rusty when he had his stitches in his back...but I told them no way....those things are just too weird...but hey, they work though! Hugs to you Rusty!! |
You should decorate hie e-collar for him like a cast. Let Jack and Eddie sign it too! |
