Some people are simply sensitive to it (ie just "made" that way); for others, like me, I naturally have low blood pressure - so sometimes I'll stand up and have to stop for a few moments, and maybe even dip my head upside down to get some blood in there (LOL). But, there could be other underlying issues too - like blood isn't circulating properly (vessel and/or valvular issue) or the chambers aren't talking properly (atria/ventricles out of sync, but less likely). Usually, the causes are quite benign in nature, which is good. Once you're in Med School (soon, right?) - you'll be able too tell us so much more than me, girl! :D (btw, are you a runner/athlete? If so, perhaps you used to have low blood pressure - resulting in the occasional drops)

gosh, i'm sorry :( I came home and took a nap...

they didnt' really say anything just yet. i have to wear an "activity monitor" for a couple of weeks. They did an ultrasound on my heart and it looked good. I also have to go in for a turn table test. And I am going to see an thyroid specialist because my thyroid levels have been low for a while.

soooo....after all of that, I MIGHT know something :( sorry....no news yet :(

Is that the Tilt Table test you are talking about?
I had that done years ago and thats when they diagnosed Vasso Depressor Syncope. They strap you on the bed then tilt it up, you are on heart monitors etc. I passed out and started to fall so thank god for the straps :p DRs say Vassor Depressor Syncope is a new disease amongst younger people. I take a medicine that they give older folks to keep Blood Pressure up. Its called ProAmatine
Then years later i went to a Hematologist and my Iron levels were depleted and I noticed as the iron levels came up it also helped somewhat with the Blood Pressure.
Best wishes and prayers to you

that's what i was wondering! Or even high blood sugar!
Ask your docter to check this out! And low BP!
If you think you are going to go out- sit on floor, before you hit the floor!

Take care of your self

Yeah I saw that, I was hoping for an answer like they said it was caused by x and all I have to do is y. I'm sure you would have liked that too.:)

yep yep...that would have been GREAT

to make things worse...I just found out that the monitor they have me on is pointless right now. you have to call in the recordings and apparently, you can't do that from a cell phone, only a landline. i don't have a land line phone. sooo....i need to get in touch with the dr. and figure out what they need me to do. this is such a pain!!!

Well, have him get in there with you..I know when I cut my finger off at work a few years ago, I couldn't get my finger wet for awhile, so hubby would get in the shower with me and wash me up..he's done all kinds of things for me over the years..when I had a tummy tuck, he had to set his alarm to wake up and change out my nasty tubes, sure wish there were more men out there like your hubby and mine...:) You sure they're not brothers??:D

I am sending the monitor back and they are going to give me something else. I dread this...but I guess it needs to be done :( sounds like I might have stuff strapped to my chest for a while. I am envisioning a bullet-proof vest LOL

I don't want to go all the way through this post..how far along are you?? How about instead of a shower, just take a bath until after the baby is born..as far as hair washing, just wash it over the sink..I used to get dizzy when I was pg. but, only when I would lay on my back, I had back labor with all 3 kids..high blood pressure will make you dizzy also..just take care of yourself and that little one..

I am now 13 weeks along. I am afraid to take a bath cuz I am chlostropjobic and baths tend to set it off. BUT since the showers are just not agreeing with me, I think I will try a bath and see how it goes

Mandee, I'm just somehow now seeing this thread. I am so sorry you are going thru this. I had the same problem when I was pregnant. But I don't have any problems with baths.

Let me tell you, the fear of a bath tub shouldn't be as bad as fearing passing out & hitting your head in the shower. So glad your hubby will sit with you while you are in the shower. As far as the tub, goes, will your fear of closed in spaces lessen if you leave the door to the bath open?

Take care girl!

i always leave the door open...but my bath is a garden tub that is enclosed..sorta. there isn't even a light above it. i light candles cuz it gets pretty dark in there.

but i am going to try a bath today and see how that goes.
