I only took the HRT for about a year. I still had hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness and NO sex drive, so I stopped. If it's not helping, why risk it!? Only you know if you are doing the right thing for yourself. Try making a list of pros and cons and see how that stacks up.

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | I had mine done last year...34 years old. My uterus was prolapsing...they called it uterun septum. The pain was pretty bad. I was on a morphine drip that I could push myself. Coming home, I stayed on my pain meds. The worst was when I had to cough. I thought my insides were going to come out. There was some discharge for about a week but it was really light. While the pain was something that I hope to never experience again, it was all worth it. I'm no longer slowed down by monthly periods and I still have my ovaries so I'm still producing hormones.

| I know I have already posted my experiences but also wanted to add that it was the best decision I ever made. I'm sure that in time you will feel that way soon.

| Had my surgery over Mother's Day Weekend (in on Thursday, out on Wednesday) 1987 (36 yo) a bikini cut, uterus only. My only bad part was in the recovery room when they take you off pain meds to wake you up. On a scale of 1 to 10 - two childbirths were a 1 or 2, gall bladder was a 4, hysterectomy was a 6, and lung/thorasic surgery was a 20. No stairs, no driving, no lifting - you'll be OK. No more periods! I've heard both sides about it making menopause easier or worse. I've hated every day of menopause and it seems like it's been going on for 10 years to me. REMEMBER: This too shall pass!

| Thanks everyone for sharing all your experiences. I still wish I did not have to do it, I just wish I knew it was the right decision instead of just hoping it is...... but hearing all your positive stories makes me feel a little better. |
