Our "friends from the North" or "damn Yankees" as some people down South, who are not so "cultured" as you and I, prefer to call them , thoroughly enjoy teasing the ones in our group, who are Southern, about being "G.R.I.T.S.", Southern Belles, etc. I just always tell them, with my sweetest Southern accent, "You are absolutely right, we are spoiled by our Daddy's who pray that when we grow up we will marry men who will carry on the tradition!" And then add, "I did my Daddy proud, don't you think?" Glad you are here and that you found Dean!!

Roll Tide back tu! I am not as spoiled as I'd lke to be, as is the custom in this town especially! But, I have to say fiance and Daddy have both dun' me well. I have a yorkie -- because fiance finally conceded -- so I guess I am sorta spoiled! (Dean was my Christmas present to myself, but last year I got a pretty diamond from fiance!) Funny story: I made Colin ask Dad even though Dad already knew I was getting the ring -- kinda of a joke -- and right when Colin was talking to Dad about 'taking my hand in marriage,' I hit my knee on the side of Colin's truck and started shouting a few expletives. Dad's response was, "If you want her, you can have her ..." while rolling his eyes and snickering! My favorite thing is joking about how Southern women show disdain towards someone without reverting to the favorite two-word redneck response. Us civilized ladies instead say, "That's nice." BTW, I was curious if you or your husband work for Reynolds or TVA? Colin's family is from Tuscumbia, Al., and a lot of people that work up there have to travel to places in Colorado, etc ... for business. Take care and keep toto warm!

But ... had he lived, he would have loved my Patrick as much as I do! He was sooo worth the wait and believe me, I was not looking for #3!! He is so wonderful ... gives ME gifts on HIS birthday! My Mom adores him and my sister told me on our wedding day, when I got "cold feet" and couldn't seem to get to the church on time, ... "We put too much work into this wedding!!! If you don't marry him .... I AM!!! [She has been married for over 30 years!! ] Our kids think we are nuts! They all "flew the nest" and "Nonnie & Papa" changed careers and hit the road!! We work for oil/gas companies ... he negotiates Right of Way, buys land, etc. and I am a "documents specialist" [which simply means tracing deeds and other documents back for a bzillion years in courthouses]. It's all very interesting and we see lots of this country ... sometimes we are only in an area for a few months ... sometimes for several years. It certainly has it's drawbacks, i.e., we don't see the grandchildren nearly as often as we would like and sometimes we miss being home, but for the most part we enjoy traveling, making new friends and seeing new things. I am not working on this particular project but am enjoying being home with Toto and, after working my entire life, learning the "Suzy Homemaker" roll, which gets pretty interesting at times! I'm certain that this "semi-retirement" will get old pretty soon and I will be back in a courthouse with a Yorkie in my bag searching documents!! But for now, I will just try to keep Toto warm!! I have a funny joke about "civilized" Southern ladies' responses between a girl from Alabama and one from Georgia ... will try to find it ... it's really hysterically funny!! Maybe one day, if we are home long enough, Toto and Dean can meet and have a play date? She doesn't get any opportunities to play with little ones because of the goofy way we live!

wow betyyanne, thats kewl you get to travel, but i hate moving once a year (my fiances mom usually moves once a year it drives me nuts, and she is too cheap to hire movers so when moving day rolls around she sits on her butt and delgates what should go where as my fiance and i do all the work ) ...........in all your work do you ever go outside the country??? I would think it would be kind of scary, didnt that guy in that "proof of life" movie work for a company sorta like that?

Of course I would LOVE for our babies to have a 'date.' We travel to Tuscumbia about once a month, or if you're ever in town for games, you could drop by! I had seen posts about taking yorkie to courthouse -- okay, that's you! I would love to be able to carry Dean around everywhere, but he's in his teenage stage and would want to romp -- all though he is still quite a snugglebunny once he's settled. I am so jealous of how you live! Orinskye: I know the feeling about the moving. Before C and I were engaged, I went from parents to grandparents to apartment to apartment. I 'settled down' with C 3 years ago and it's been so nice not moving once a year. Now we are house shopping and I DREAD the move. But as we have 4 critters in a 2 bedroom 2 bath 2100 sq. foot apartment, it will be nice to double our space. I joke about how I will carry the pillows and pack the boxes ... let the men do the rest. I would love to move around all the time and then "visit" home, except for the moving part. Well, I took some more pics of Dean playing with the rest of the crowd, and I'm gonna try and figure out how to post them ... the camera we got is too good -- all the files have to be reduced before posting.

| Hope to be "home" for a while in a few months ... we will get these two little ones together!! Toto is probably easy to take places in her bag because we started her really early! It was really quite by accident .... was gathering things together to go out one day and for wont of somewhere to put Toto ... stuck her in the bag ... she LOVED it!! The neat thing is that she won't jump out! I can sit her on the floor ... hang her on a doorknob, etc. and she won't leave the bag until she is told! I know, I know ... it amazes us too!!! We don't actually "move" ... we keep our home intact and set up "housekeeping" with what I fondly refer to as our "traveling" furniture. Compact, lightweight, lots of wicker, etc. so it's really not that difficult. I didn't bring my car up because I knew I wouldn't be out driving on icy streets here in Colorado ... we plan to probably fly down and drive it back up in the spring! Toto and I take a cab if we have to go out during the day ... we are pretty close to "downtown" so we plan to do lots of walking, weather permitting [which hasn't been that much lately! ]Have new pics of Toto too ... she is growing up so quickly, it's amazing to look back at the older ones and see the difference! Can't wait to see your new pics of Dean! BTW ... when are you and Colin planning to "tie the knot?"

He was enrolled in ROTC, but was disenrolled after two years for medical reasons, so he's now working on an engineering degree (2-3 years extra at UA), so whenever we have real enough jobs to pay our own bills entirely, we will marry. We had planned May 21, 2005, but then he had his accident and all, so we've had to put it off. We've dated for 5 years, lived together for almost 3, so I'm REALLY ready to make it official. There are a few head shots of Dean in the photo gallery, but I haven't got the really "cute" ones up yet. Wish the best to you in CO, and I'll keep you in mind this spring so we can meet! I got Luca Dean a ferret carry bag yesterday, and he tolerates being in it well. We walked around with him in it and he didn't try to get out. Today's a big day for him though -- he'll be alone here for the first time!! For a whole hour and a half!! Cross fingers!
